I know why even some longtime fans had a problem with this. The instantly familiar power metal riffs and head-bobbing beats are gone. The instantaneously catchy choruses are also missing. Instead, the band have taken the Nightwish sound in a much more ?artistic' and experimental direction. Human. :II: Nature. is definitely way more artsy and folky than anything the band has done before. It's even a little bit proggy with its dense collection of ideas, harmonies, and abstract structures. The second album of instrumental stuff is what drags this down. For everyone else, you just have to give this one a few listens because it's nowhere near as catchy and instant as their previous releases.

New album Human. :II: Nature. is interesting addition to Nightwish?s discography.rLeaning more into the folk (check out the song Harvest) and symphony elements of their sound rather than the symphonic metal. Especially disc 2 epic track All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World - an epic orchestra, instrumental symphony track with no metal sound whatsoever.rDepending what you want from Nightwish you?ll either love the experimentation or want them to get back to the more straightforward sound. I?m personally in the first camp.rRecommended songs to check out: Noise, Tribal, and Harvest.

If this album didn't have the second disc, it would be a fairly decent Nightwish album, but because it's a double album it's far too long and not interesting enough to warrant the extended run time.

No matter how fantastic Floor's vocals can be she hasn't shown it on a Nightwish recording yet.Human is alright but nothing special. Will spin it a couple times then move on to more interesting pastures.

Less Metal - more Nightwish....Wait, what? But yes, exactly this seems to be the case here.
In my opinion, Tuomas was always able to produce nice orchestral, symphonic arrangements, but
he was never the best to produce good metal songs. On "HUMAN. :II: NATURE", this is very
obvious. The riffs are like already heard one thousand times, the drums are mediocre at best
(although Kai Hahto is capable of so much more...). The album has indeed some nice moments
(espacially Noise, Shoemaker and Pan). I even would have rated the
"first" part of this album with a 3,5, but what is the second part supposed to be? A movie
score? Was Tuomas a bit too often outside and just recorded a tweet here and a lapping there?
This is just not interesting at all. But since this is also a part of the whole album, I
can't go higher than a 2,5 rating. This means, this is the poorest Nightwish album for
me of all time. I fear, "Once" will stay the best Nightwish album - forever. A quite big
disappointment.
