Fear Factory Activate New Era 2026-09-01 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 2 Comments | Fear Factory have released Roboticist, their first new song in five years and their first studio recording with vocalist Milo Silvestro and drummer Pete Webber.
Silvestro joined the industrial metal veterans in 2023, replacing founding singer Burton C. Bell, who departed three years earlier. Although the new lineup has toured extensively since then, Roboticist provides its first opportunity to be heard on record.
The song continues Fear Factory's longstanding examination of the conflict between humanity and technology. Its central character is an architect of artificial intelligence who creates machines capable of outlasting the human body, only to lose control of what he has unleashed.
Roboticist was released on August 29, the date on which Skynet becomes self-aware in the sci-fi classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day. While the song does not directly reference the film, guitarist Dino Cazares acknowledged its thematic connection to the franchise.
Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Damien Rainaud, the single is accompanied by a Vincente Cordero-directed music video:
Cazares has also revealed that Fear Factory's forthcoming eleventh album is expected in 2027. The ten-track record will include Roboticist and the planned second single, Detonizer.
