Enslaved Bend to Solar Will 2026-08-24 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 9 Comments | Norwegian progressive black metal veterans Enslaved have announced their seventeenth studio album, Mið, set for release on October 30 through Nuclear Blast Records.
The title is an Old Norse word meaning center or middle. According to the band, the record examines the meeting point between past traditions and present understanding, personal truths and universal ideas, while also reflecting the trust and interaction developed among its members. It follows 2023's Heimdal.
The announcement is accompanied by Solar Will, whose video was created by the band's longtime collaborators at Kolibri Media. Guitarist Ivar Bjørnson explained that the song draws inspiration from ancient solar cults and the sun's contrasting ability to sustain or extinguish life.
Vocalist Grutle Kjellson added that its lyrics explore opposing forces found throughout nature, mythology and the human mind. Rather than attempting to eliminate those contradictions, the song ultimately considers how people might accept and shape them.
Mið will also feature Sámi musician Johan Sara Jr. on I Am Ice and Kevin Kicking Woman on the previously released Spirit Helper.
