Somehow, Nevermore returned...
|
| |
Idk how I feel about this. I mean I love Loomis but idk how you can do this without good ole Warrel.
|
| |
Either this will come to fruition and be amazing; or it will be terrible.
We'll see. I've got a good feeling they will smash it in all honesty.
|
| |
if all three of Jeff, van, and Jim are back then it might have legs.
If it’s just the loomis show because he needs money then it’ll be a wash.
|
| |
dumb to do this without warrel dane
|
| |
Adam Lambert on vocals confirmed
|
| |
I heard they were recruiting Boy George.
|
| |
Idk maaaaan.
|
| |
Nevertheless
|
| |
i think if van williams is there it'll be fine cus he was the best member anyway
|
| |
Oncemore
|
| |
No idea how they can go on without Warrel... but they can try
|
| |
Yea no Dane no point really
|
| |
idk I mean yeah without Dane it isn’t really nevermore but Jeff loomis is my favorite guitarist of all time and if both van and Jim are back it seems in good taste.
this will probably be the last ever chance to see nevermore songs live played by the people who made them which is worth a ticket in my book.
|
| |
loomis finally free from his money prison to write riffs again
|
| |
let's fucking go
|
| |
I'd kill for an opportunity to see this band live. Fuck knows who and how they will replace Dane.
|
| |
Half the shop at least, belongs to Loomis and Williams.
Lest we forget, Loomis was/is the main songwriter.
Imho, they have every legitimacy for doing this, and unlike the recent Pantera stretch, metal is in dire need of the next best Nevermore incarnation available.
|
| |
there are some vocalists somewhat similar to dane out there if they really want to have a copy as a vocalist. daniel gildenlow is pretty similar but i think honestly as long as they get a genuinely good vocalist of any flavour it'll probably be fine
|
| |
Pity Evermore is already taken as a band name because their current one doesn’t really gel with the concept of this reunion
|
| |
There’s like a 99/100 chance this is going to suck ass but we will see
|
| |
I think if this was a Death reunion type situation it might be pretty cool... if they're recording new material idk.
|
| |
Pog
|
| |
Nevermore is just as much Jeff's band as it was Warrel's. Not only that, but Van Williams is involved. I can't really doubt the legitimacy of this. Jeff got his bag with Arch Enemy, I doubt this is a money thing. Also, they probably would have gotten a lot more money if they did this while Warrel was still alive. I'm down for whatever they decide to do with this.
|
| |
please no
|
| |
Never understood the hype around this band. Sanctuary was exponentially better.
|
| |
christ now i have to say please no again already
|
| |
Hmm…
http://blabbermouth.net/news/nevermores-founding-bassist-jim-sheppard-blasts-jeff-loomiss-and-van-williamss-completely-disrespectful-use-of-band-name
|
| |
damn so it is in bad taste. well that sucks.
|
| |
Wow what a bunch of dickheads.
|
| |
I appreciate how on the band's wiki it still says "On December 13, 2017, Dane died of a heart attack in São Paulo, Brazil, at the age of 56, putting an end to any possibilities of a Nevermore reunion."
|
| |
like duh the only reason to say this is "nevermore" is for the name recognition. if williams and loomis wanted to make new music, they'd have plenty of interested fans even if it was a totally new band. not making a new band has one possible reason - they wanted as much money as possible
|
| |
I mean it’s a tale as old as time.
we still don’t know if they’re even making new music or if it’s just a tour to make some cash.
|
| |
No wonder why Loomis and Williams seem to have left Sheppard out.
|
| |
let's also be really honest with ourselves, the obsidian conspiracy was not a good album by their standards and anything new they'd make would be a shadow of even that effort
|
| |
Gotta put food on the table.
|
| |
@Essence
Their last album was not good, because it was made by an essentially ruined band.
Sheppard has every right to object, but it would be great if he could elaborate on why a band of excellent musicians that recorded and released classic albums up to 2005, swiftly imploded afterwards in terms of interpersonal relations.
Does it have to do with one half of the band starting to boss the other half?
|
| |
Obsidian was a great record. Fucking heretics
|
| |
^^On its own right probably, but it's nowhere near the previous ones.
|
| |
it was a valiant attempt at mainstream appeal while keeping the core of the sound intact
|
| |
there's nothing valiant about how phoned in that album sounds. it sounds like nevermore covering nevermore
|
| |
I get your point but you're too harsh. It really wasn't that bad
|
| |
it's fine enough music but nevermore are one of the foundational bands in my music tastes and *for me* I can barely get through the first song
|
| |
Na dawg just give me more Sanctuary
|
| |
IMO Obsidian Conspiracy is awesome, the worst part about it is the cover art. I wouldn't say it's better than their earlier records but it is notable for continuing the TGA sound which is peak Nevermore.
i don't really see this panning out because Warrel's voice was so unique, between the operatic vocals and all his "talking" parts they truly had a unique sound. it has aged magnificently, too, as metal has trended more towards brutality/crazy vocals.
|
| |
"IMO Obsidian Conspiracy is awesome"
I didn't read past this part of the comment
|
| |
Very stoked for this. Regardless of who the vocalist is, I’m sure the instrumentals will be great.
|
| |
Warrel Danes been replaced in sanctuary so why not nevermore also? Stu block or Tim Owen’s could be good choices.
|
| |
John K from Biomechanical could fill the spot, if he is still up to it.
|
| |
i dont wanna hear none of these fools do dane's vocals. just make a new band
|
| |
They have found a second guitarist, great news!
https://blabbermouth.net/news/jeff-loomis-and-van-williams-launch-search-for-new-nevermore-singer-and-bassist-shoot-down-money-grab-accusations
|
| |
they're going to find some young buck. Enough time has passed. I'm fine with it
|
| |
I can sing Born pretty well AND play air guitar at the same time, just saying.
|
| |
I emailed Jeff Loomis to put in a good word about you
|
| |
THE PIGS
CALL FOR PURE SUBMISSION
|
| |
damn so it sounds like it’s a full blown restarting of the band.
no way to tell how this is gonna go until it actually comes to fruition.
|
| |
I'm auditioning for vocalist!
|
| |
what are the odds of Jim throwing down a lawsuit
|
| |
id imagine one of Jeff or van has the rights to the name if they’ve already posted everything.
|
| |
'no way to tell' there is if you have enough cynicism
|
| |
Damn, this is one of those instances where I wish I wasn't tied down with the military. I would've loved to send a vocal audition :/
|
| |
yeah im listening to enemies of reality and there’s just no way they can replace warrell. just make a new band guys I promise I’ll still listen to it.
|
| |
^^Agreed, hence the broad strokes posted for the auditions.
Imho, Loomis and Williams should not overrule hiring a female singer, there are some heavy names out there, some of them without a band.
Like the one who sings for Lowen.
Or even Tania from Universe 217.
Or even Anneke from The Gathering.
Edit:
Browsing the internet, I came across this 2015 article about Nevermore
http://www.rocking.gr/news/Oi-Nevermore-den-exoun-pethanei/24243
Dane (RIP) comments about the band's future as follows (pretty accurate google translation from Greek):
I have secret plans. When Jeff and Van left, the band didn't break up. I have the lyrics ready for the next record. It started as a concept story and continues the tradition of Nevermore and evolves and never stops. Yes, there is a possibility of a new record. We have the support of the label and other people in the industry, and it might be a good idea. Don't be surprised if there is a new record in the next two years. It will be me and Jim Sheppard (bass) and I would like Jeff Loomis to be there, but he's in Arch Enemy, and I don't know if it's possible. We broke up badly, we don't talk much, but we're not enemies anymore...
|
| |
if they're gonna be cringe about it just get the guy from paladin, they already covered nevermore anyway and did a good job
|
| |
^^I had that outfit almost at the tip of my hands/tongue, and I couldn't type/utter it, thanks for mentioning them.
|
| |
Maneskin vocalist
|
| |
They should see if the original singer from Communic is around. That guy was very clearly Warrel inspired back in the day, and had pretty good pipes. Possibly one of those "not the same, but honouring the original vision" type of things. I don't think Nevermore is the kind project you want to "drastically change" imo. You could simply make a new project.
|
| |
Jammed this band for the first time today and I don't see how they replace Warrel successfully. Such a distinct vocalist
|
| |
Stupid idea
|
| |
It’s impossible to replace warrel and it probably isn’t even their goal. Whatever they do is very unlikely to be on the same level, but it will still probably be worthwhile.
|
| |
https://blabbermouth.net/news/nevermores-founding-bassist-jim-sheppard-wishes-jeff-loomis-and-van-williams-the-best-despite-not-being-contacted-about-reunion
In my heart, NEVERMORE will always be Warrel, Jeff and I living in a one-room apartment, slaves to an eight-track recording machine, non-stop songwriting insanity. We were driven, we were hungry... To quote Dave Mustaine, we were ready to 'smile, eat shit and ask for more!'
"True, I've been retired. I enjoy my new life in Alaska following bears with my wife Priscila, a wildlife photographer.
"My opinion of [Loomis's and Williams's] press release [announcing the NEVERMORE comeback is] Van came across self-promoting and Jeff felt very sincere; he truly wants to capture a little piece of the magic we held.
"I'm disappointed no one reached out to me concerning the name NEVERMORE, a name that means blood, sweat and tears.
"With that said, I wish them the best."
|
| |
iirc Warrel and van were rumored to have some beef too so it seems like there’s some bad blood there.
it’ll be interesting to see where this goes but it just won’t be the same band without Warrel.
|
| |
that sheppard statement gotta be the nail in the coffin for this idea for me. jim may not have been the core of why nevermore was great but he clearly lived and breathed the band. if they really cared about the spirit of the band they'd have at least hit him up first to tell him they had the idea
really disappointing from loomis and van
|
| |
without warrel and jim for songwriting it’s gonna end up sounding like a Jeff solo album if they actually make a record. which def isn’t what i want to hear.
but if it’s just a reunion tour to make some cash that’s not the worst thing ever.
|
| |
Hopefully a reunion tour. Please for the love of god come to Aus. Last & maybe only chance to see them playing as I was too young to get into the gigs back in the heyday & obviously it'll probably be a one and done thing.
