HMLTD will release their third studio album, FANGS, on October 23 through Lucky Number Music. The record introduces a revised lineup in which Theo Spark and Andrei Martynchyk join founding members Henry Spychalski and Duc Peterman. The quartet developed the album while staying at a ruined château in France's Loire Valley, where they became immersed in vampire mythology and revisited the goth and electronic body music that inspired the band's earliest work. HMLTD have coined the term "Götherdammerüng," or "ÜberGöth," to describe the album's combination of gothic howls, black-metal screams, heavy electronic bass, rave synthesizers and dance rhythms. Its influences range from Bauhaus, Suicide and Nitzer Ebb to Crystal Castles, German hardcore and 2000s blog house. FANGS follows the orchestral 2023 rock opera The Worm, but moves sharply away from that album's instrumentation. Its songs explore horror, cultural decay, digital alienation and cosmic pessimism while retaining a playful and highly danceable character. The announcement is accompanied by I Used to Ride in Limousines, whose video was directed by frontman Henry Spychalski. The song concerns success, failure and the liberation that can come from abandoning external measures of achievement and defining one's worth independently. The tracklist is: 1. What the Hell 2.
