Has science gone too far?

Fucking Dan Ryckert being in this video and the thumbnail no less. Just fantastic.
| |
Apparently he's the brother in law of one of the dudes in the band?
| |
lol these guys are ridiculous
| |
That they are. This is a good month for Eddie Murphy. First Dolemite and now this.
| |
I kinda love this
| |
Fantastic. I am so glad this is a thing that exists in the world. Love this band.
| |
this was sweeee
| |
Dan Ryckert is living life and we’re all just NPCs he has in his world.
| |
they played this live when I saw em in '16 and well...here it is again!
| |
Jesus Christ Eddie Murphy is such a better vocalist
| |
The singer in this band sounds almost exactly like the guy in Issues and that is fucking haram
| |
"The singer in this band sounds almost exactly like the guy in Issues"
Wuuuut? Not even a little bit. If anything he sounds like Claudio Sanchez.
| |
That was just wonderful
| |
Random Dream Theater verse at 3:38 lol. Thank You Scientist is such a solid group, but I just can't get past the vocalist.
My guess would be if you're a big fan of Coheed & Cambria, you roll with TYS just as much, and vice versa.
| |
You'd think that, but I love Thank You Scientist and can't really get into Coheed, and trust me I've tried.
| |
Just glad to see some duders exist on this website too : )
| |
funny vid
still not a big fan of this band tho
| |
I usually like the TYS vox but they just didnt work for this track
| |
I swear this band is some kind of controlled opposition psyop to make sure no one can make prog ever again. There's no way this is anything but bad faith satire.
| |
Im generally down for wacky unconventional covers but the original was never that great imo and the vocals in this version really highlight what a whiny, petulant song it is.
| |
"the original was never that great imo and the vocals in this version really highlight what a whiny, petulant song it is."
I think that's the point though. The original classic only in ironic terms, and their take is a fond but hyper-ironic lampooning of it.
| |
Oh it's undoubtedly meant to be tongue-in-cheek, I just don't think singing it while rolling their eyes is really enough to overcome the flaws in the songwriting. Imo the video does the lion's share of the lampooning anyway, which is probably why I like it a lot more than the actual song.
| |
The whole ending though... I mean the whole thing is clearly an elaborate piss-take with exceptional musicianship, and frankly that's the best kind of piss-take.
| |
Wow, uh. Not sure how, but I completely forgot about that ending. I... yeah, I see you point now hahaha, still not a huge fan but as a piss-take I certainly respect the effort
| |
They would be my favourite band going if they'd ditch their vocalist
