New Lord Mantis Song 2019-10-17 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 21 Comments | Chicago blackened sludge metal band Lord Mantis are currently streaming the new song "Qliphotic Alpha", taken from their upcoming album Universal Death Church, which will be released on November 22nd, via Profound Lore Records.
Stream "Qliphotic Alpha" here:
Profound Lore Records states: "Universal Death Church sees LORD MANTIS with a new sense of purpose and focus. More developed and immeasurable, vast and towering, Universal Death Church continues the doomed and blackened depraved metal paradigm that has become the signature resonating palpitation surrounding the LORD MANTIS sound. The threading between punishing, torturous yet direct and at times tangible industrial-influenced riffing with the more abstract, dark, blackened surreal-like crawling and swift passages paint a new disturbing sonic portrait for the band. The renewed union of LORD MANTIS became akin to that of repairing tissue of an unnamable and vile organism. Leveling up the beast.
Having that infamous reputation of being one of the more vexed acts within the extreme metal scene, as amassed on previous releases such as 2012’s Pervertor and most-notably their 2014 controversial Death Mask LP, Universal Death Church ups the LORD MANTIS ante in pretty much every category; the intensity, darkness, heaviness, and of course the deviance and degeneracy."
Universal Death Church tracklist:
01. "Santa Muerte"
02. "God's Animal"
03. "Qliphotic Alpha"
04. "Consciousness.exe"
05. "Low Entropy Narcosis"
06. "Damocles Falls"
07. "Fleshworld"
08. "Hole"

Good stuff, I gotta check these guys' discography properly sometime soon.
| | | ddd where you at holmes
song is alright, tones are really thin, not sure if I'm liking it tbh
| | | Preferred Pevertor to Death Mask, will likely give this a spin for DDDs sake if nothing else.
| | | LorDDD Mantis
| | | one of the most overrated bands in modern metal
| | | Is that Charlie Fell on vox? It sounds like him, but I could have sworn he quit LM
| | | It's him
| | | he is absolutely the best part of this band, riff and songwriting-wise they are not super interesting, though I do think the focus is much more on atmosphere with these guys. Also lol at that transition 3:38, I was like oh what song is playing next, oh that's the same song.
| | | The track is decent, but the first part certainly needs beefier production. After all, why would people listen to this band other than it being fucking heavy?
| | | this band has never had the production to support the weight of their songs
| | | death mask doe
| | | I actually started to like em when the Indian vocalist took over. now they got a new guitarist, drummer... it wasn't produced that well.
| | | "death mask doe"
yeah idk, the production on that always sounded very thin to me
| | | but as thin as this though?
and I'd typically agree if it was pervertor instead but regardless shit riffs
| | | "one of the most overrated bands in modern metal"
100%
| | | "but as thin as this though?

I haven't planned on listening to this to make any kind of comparison, but maybe i'll check it out to see if it changes my opinion of anything.
| | | They're overrated but still solid, interested to hear this.
| | | nah they are good. Spirit is just a nerd
| | | This and new Blood Incantation are gonna shit dicks.
| | | I actually think this is more in line with Pervertor, which is more than fine for me...track in the 2nd part gets really sludgy. Sweeeet
this and BI in the same day. Its gonna be a destructive day for sure m/
| | | sounds just like my local swamp slapping me across the face
