Republic of Wolves drop "Colored Out"

2018-02-24 by Sowing STAFF | 13 Comments
The Republic of Wolves, on the verge of releasing shrine on March 27th, have dropped a third song in advance of the record. Titled "Colored Out", it combines the melodic qualities of No Matter How Narrow with the alt-rock aesthetic found on their earlier works.

Mason Maggio on "Colored Out":
"Colored Out’ is one of the more upbeat songs on the record, although it deals with heavy lyrical themes of loss and self-identity. The song initially grew out of a guitar riff that we had written for our 2010 album Varuna, so it has a lot of history for us – but lyrically and instrumentally it developed into something that, I think, embodies the contrasting sounds of this project really well."

The track is currently streaming exclusively on Substream Magazine: http://substreammagazine.com/2018/02/republic-of-wolves-colored-out/

Seriously beautiful song. Vocalist reminds a little bit of Coldplay's vocalist (which i dont like very much) but the song is absolutely fantastic.

Yeah his vocals have always reminded me more of a folk version of Jesse Lacey than anything coming close to Chris Martin, but regardless I'm glad this is receiving positive exposure.

Forgot this was coming out soon, excited again. I liked No Matter How Narrow.. but not nearly as much as I thought I did the first couple days it came out. I wrote a wayyyy too positive review and then never revisited the album.

No Matter How Narrow was by no means a bad album but I just felt like it didn't do anything different from Tigers on Trains and tried to play the middle ground between the two projects. In turn it lacked the hooks of the best ToT and the intensity of TROW. I have a feeling shrine will be a lot better.
