same opinion on the first song, it's good but I'm not entirely impressed. That being said, I'm sure it's a grower.

I dig it. Excited for the album to drop.
| |
sounds like chevelle
decently excited nonetheless because i like how chevelle sounds
the part in the middle that kind of sounded like little kids felt weird though
| |
'Twas catchy yo. The riffs were like
DUNNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUNUN
| |
tone is shit but it's a real good song by them, def would've enjoyed it 10 years ago
| |
Really good interview. But as always I'm biased. Hilarious that the kid on the cover is his son and the corridor there is from his house just "spookified" a bit lol
| |
they had a photographer re-do the image he had on his phone
| |
Yeah, you're right. Still neat how it came about though
| |
I like this one a lot better than Joyride.
| |
"I like this one a lot better than Joyride." [2]
| |
This one is a LOT heavier than Joyride. For some reason, these guys end up with the weakest first singles. "An Island" was their third from La Gargola. I guarantee if it was their first that album would have sold 3x as many copies.
| |
I get a bit of a throwback vibe with this one but I don't think it's as good as the first.
| |
Are we ever gonna let this genre die Christ.
| |
I like it and getting stoked for the North Corridor.
| |
Really dig this and Joyride. Pretty excited for the new album.
| |
I like these singles
| |
I really love these guys but they really stay in their comfortzone too much at this point. even though this might be very slightly heavier than their other stuff, they made songs like these for the past 6 albums now... and it really doesn't impress anymore
| |
Yeah they're definitely nearing the end of their lifecycle, but you know what, if even 10% of mainstream hard rock bands could be this consistent in what they put out, the world would be a better place.
| |
Fuck this is heavy
| |
I don't listen to chevelle for experimental music, though.
This brings the Helmet-worship chugs. I dig it.
| |
"I think that over the years we just really enjoyed playing the heavy stuff off our albums rather than the lighter side."
How rare is it to hear this? Seems like bands these days usually say the exact opposite.
| |
3.5
| |
Great tune. They went heavier with la gargola, after two toned down records, but this one seems to be heavier like the early stuff. Stoked.
| |
One band I actually wouldn't mind going in a less heavy direction. I always thought they are at their best when they are being more melodic.
| |
Chevelle doin great as usual
| |
I don't hate this as much as I hated most of La Gargola but I'm not expecting much from this album.
| |
"One band I actually wouldn't mind going in a less heavy direction. I always thought they are at their best when they are being more melodic." [2]
At this point, Chevelle's melodic direction is much better than when they try to be heavy now. They've kinda lost what made the heaviness on past albums effective, and now they're kinda being heavy purely for the sake of being heavy.
That said, I like this song and am definitely willing to give the album a chance.
| |
Man I haven't been excited for a Chevelle album since "Sci-fi Crimes". The past two singles rip hard.
| |
This is the best song I've ever heard by them.
Hyped fucking hard for this album
| |
It's a jam, as expected from Chevelle.
| |
Just what I wanted to hear from them, a great fucking jam that goes hard.
| |
really dig this, album is gonna be sick
| |
Chevelle being Chevelle. Wouldn't want it any other way.
| |
I like that they're going back to their WWN sound. If they can make songs like Family System and Comfortable Liar again then I'm all in.
| |
hate this track. starts solid, but gets so repetitive and self-indulgent. hard for me to tolerate songs with this few lyrics. plus the bridge is pretty lamely repetitive as well - no sir. and definitely said yes the first time.
still stoked for the album tho.
| |
I feel like I'm in 2004 with this song, and I have no fucking issues with that.
Album's gonna slay.

Chevelle debut yet another track, "Rivers", on billboard.com:
