soooo bad.
|
| |
Pretty good actually.
|
| |
lmao
|
| |
yeah i thought it was really good. one of their best
|
| |
I actually enjoy it. I just hope they don't completely ditch the screams/heaviness.
|
| |
oli is slowly getting better with his vocals and although the lyrics werent amazing i thought they were pretty good by bmth standard.
pretty happy if next album is like this
|
| |
I actually enjoy it. I just hope they don't completely ditch the screams/heaviness.
|
| |
This is pretty good.
|
| |
I don't even bother with lyrics with this band, there are some artists that you're better off not bothering with lyrically.
|
| |
"I don't even bother with lyrics with this band"
i dont understand what you mean by this seeming as the lyrics on this are quite clearly audible so you sorta have to take it
|
| |
cool pop punk band
|
| |
i want count your blessings back
|
| |
I don't
|
| |
dude game what
|
| |
I like this.
|
| |
"cool pop band"
fixed
|
| |
Excited to hear this now.
|
| |
"oli is slowly getting better with his vocals"
He still sucks/doesn't do a lot of them live
|
| |
"dude game what"
This is the kind of band that I don't bother paying attention to their lyrics because I never expect anything particularly interesting.
|
| |
I thought some of the lyrics on the prior 2 albums were fairly intuitive, but maybe I'm just not intelligent enough. Mind sharing some bands that you do pay attention to lyrically?
|
| |
It's growing on me
|
| |
yeah hes sucked live for tho ive seen a few good vids of him recentely where hes been better due to not playing as much old shit with screaming
|
| |
"I actually enjoy it. I just hope they don't completely ditch the screams/heaviness."
Ditto. After years of doing screams exclusively, Oli is developing a pretty good singing voice.
|
| |
hmmm I saw BMTH recently and Oli was pretty on point vocally screamed songs or not.
|
| |
"I thought some of the lyrics on the prior 2 albums were fairly intuitive, but maybe I'm just not intelligent enough. Mind sharing some bands that you do pay attention to lyrically?"
I'm just saying there are some bands that have never interested me lyrically, not so much that they aren't intelligently written enough. For instance I love The Story So Far's lyrics because of their relatability, and some great sing-a-longs, but they aren't genius or anything. I like a lot of Black metal lyrics too.
|
| |
"i dont understand what you mean by this seeming as the lyrics on this are quite clearly audible so you sorta have to take it"
maybe in this case it's just that I don't care enough to think about them to deeply beyond what I'm currently hearing.
|
| |
Okay, that makes sense. I completely understand that then. I connected a lot with Sempiternal's lyrics, so I do understand
what you mean. But TSSF just know how to deliver them haha. But I hear you.
"Ditto. After years of doing screams exclusively, Oli is developing a pretty good singing voice."
Yeah, and I'm really happy they're able to evolve/become more dynamic. I just don't want them to lose touch with who
they are. Even if he sings most of the time and they just include some of the rhythm patterns/song structure of older
songs and had some of that in their newer stuff I'd be glad. I mean Thrice did it well, and I actually prefer their softer soft
(well TAITA > everything else, but yeah), and if they put the work into it, BMTH should be able to do the same.
|
| |
Hell yeah dude. Parker Cannon is a pop punk poet
|
| |
pop punk poet
|
| |
Love this. And yeah, also saw BMTH recently and Oli was great.
|
| |
"hmmm I saw BMTH recently and Oli was pretty on point vocally screamed songs or not."
When I saw them this year at warped he only did a few "harmonies" with cleans and they were terrible. The keyboardist did the rest. And he did the "shout two words and let the crowd do the rest" for a good portion of the screams.
|
| |
"pop punk poet"
u know it iz tru
|
| |
yeah i think olis been pretty on/off vocally
he has been getting vocal training everyonce and a while and been conciously working to improve himself if i remeber correctly so thats good
|
| |
pretty different sound. I think Sempiternal will always be their best.
|
| |
getting softer every album
liked sempiternal but this is a bit bland
|
| |
where's the fokin breakdowns?
but seriously this is pretty boring
|
| |
Just listened and the song is pretty good.
|
| |
BMTH have become a rock band. A decent one. Unfortunately.
We'll see what the rest of the album brings but I was hoping they'd build on where they got to with Sempiternal.
|
| |
These guy's just keep on improving. I am interested to hear where they will go next.
|
| |
"When I saw them this year at warped"
bmth wasn't on warped this year
|
| |
It was okay, but it's not anything special. I was waiting for it to get heavier and heavier, but it dind't happen....
|
| |
I wasn't expecting this bit for what it's worth I didn't think it was bad.
|
| |
It was the predictable progression for getting more mainstream.
|
| |
I thought this was pretty good.
|
| |
It sounds like this isn't gonna be on a new album, it's just an exclusive for the "Radio 1 Does Drive" thing which has got a bit of stick lately http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/29701159
So with that in mind I'm hoping they can maintain some heavy aspects in their next album.
|
| |
The urge to roll my eyes was too much. Then again Sempiternal was a joke so I guess I should've seen it coming.
|
| |
"bmth wasn't on warped this year"
Shit, I guess that was last year I saw them. I guess he may have improved since then.
|
| |
for bmth standards I thought this was really good. even not for bmth, this was decent. I enjoyed it
|
| |
I caught them at their last warped and they were good. The only thing stupid was when Oli randomly tried to growl and it sounds terrible.
|
| |
weird ass video, but the song was actually pretty fantastic. Bit surprised really. Hope a new album has more staying than Sempiternal (got bored with it fast).
|
| |
"where's the fokin breakdowns?" Haha but I don't know, this is kinda not the greatest. Hope the rest of the album sounds better. The instrumentals are alright but the rest is very meh.
|
| |
Pretty great. IMO. I thought it was bland on the first listen, but I like it more and more on each repeated listen.
|
| |
Has nothing to do with this either
|
| |
I like it.
|
| |
soooo bad. (2)
|
| |
it's ok
|
| |
Thanks bmd :$
|
| |
I guess they're content with making 1 good album
|
| |
Band used to be crap, pretty good now.
Jordan confirmed this song is a single and won't be on new album
|
| |
Was expecting more tbh
|
| |
hated it the first time... second time it's not the worst, i guess.
|
| |
i liked it
|
| |
Sand Pit Turtle was a good album
this song is great tbh
|
| |
Well that was a shitty video
|
| |
THIS
IS
SAND PIT TURTLE
WILL WE EVER SEE THE END
|
| |
talk shit
u
mean
nothing
|
| |
i liked TIAH
i liked sempiternal
and i like this too
anyone wanna scrap w/ me or nah
|
| |
I would normally be the contrarian here but I like this band so
|
| |
anyone wanna scrap w/ me or nah
sure
|
| |
if i win you have to listen to suicide season cut up on repeat while tripping on 4 hits of pure lsd
|
| |
2 tabs is enough to meet christ
|
| |
Band sucked before sempiternal. I really like this
|
| |
Thought this was going to come out in like 2 months.
THIS IS SAND PIT TURTLE
|
| |
Great track... very mainstream but it's well done for what it is.
|
| |
Wow that was pretty good.
|
| |
Wonder if that elevator music breakdown is actually in the song.
|
| |
Bring Me Thrice
|
| |
I'm surprised by how good that was, at least for a modern pop song
|
| |
Well the beard is finally explained.
|
| |
Not bad at all. Was very surprised there was no screaming
|
| |
Good song
|
| |
I like the atmosphere.
|
| |
'twas good.
|
| |
Damn, I like it.
|
| |
meh its ok. their best work was suicide season IMO
|
| |
uhhhh... that was terribly bland.
|
| |
30 Seconds To The Horizon
|
| |
A Horizon To Remember
|
| |
that is honestly one of the worst fucking music videos ever
song is overblown to shit
|
| |
"I like the atmosphere. "
so true
it has such a strong atmosphere
|
| |
Well this was 100% more generic than I expected. I feel like I've heard it a dozen times before by other bands
|
| |
At least he stopped screaming for the most part.
|
| |
I wasn't expecting that at all.. wtf give me my screaming back.
|
| |
Really enjoyed this. Maybe it's just the fact that ive been getting into poppy-er music a lot more recently, but this was really good IMO.
|
| |
eh its alright
|
| |
everything about this is horrible
|
| |
Shit song, shit band. Will be played on K-Rock in Syracuse. They will play K-Rockathon. Hick ass motherfuckers will drunkenly shout along to their fucking bullshit singles like they did to Asking Alexandria last year. Fuck this band.
|
| |
30 Seconds to the Horizon [2]
not bad tho
|
| |
What an awful music video.
So, this band changed their style a lot, right?
|
| |
really liked this song. Oli is making the most of his broken voice. I'm glad he found the balance between scream/yell.
Also this is definitely just a single unrelated to their actual sound/style.
|
| |
"30 Seconds To The Horizon"
pretty much
|
| |
this band was actually progressing over the course of their last couple albums and then they go and release a song that's even more generic than anything on their first album. his shouty singing parts are fine but his soft singing is kinda bad and the music video was weird because he did the worst job of lip syncing i've ever seen, maybe that was the joke idk.
|
| |
the song isn't bad really it's just kind of boring which is a shame. hopefully they have some heavier
parts and more interesting song structures and some actual riffs on the next album.
|
| |
And here we go. Do I even bother to read the Comments in this thread?
I like the song, nothing crazy good but solid for them. Nothing will top Suicide Season tho
|
| |
Video: ok, but I don't get it
Music: not bad, but just kinda boring
Lyrics: Wow, just wow. Didn't realize that they dropped all pretenses and just decided to embrace the emo pop ballad crap. Well atleast their being straightforward.
|
| |
They just went Pianos Become the Teeth there.
|
| |
This wasn't better or worse than anything off the last album. Could've easily been on it tbh
|
| |
wow what a bunch of sellouts
|
| |
Wow what a bunch of fuck off lahey
|
| |
jim lahey is a drunk bastard
|
| |
you're a drunk bastard
|
| |
just really got into that show, shits funny as fuck
|
| |
Think I already said earlier that this is just for BBC Radio One does Drive - a new soundtrack for the movie that will be put onto a screening later this week I think. It's one of the most pointless exercises ever but it's probably why BMTH had to water down their sound in order to get involved, cos Radio One wouldn't want a loud aggressive song cos they're mainstream MOR rock at the best of times (unless it's midnight on Monday/Tuesday and you're listening to the Rock Show).
|
| |
Radically different from anything else they've done. Not too sure if I dig it or not though.
|
| |
This could easily be a B-Side from the Deathbeds bonus EP, just watered down a bit.
|
| |
"you're a drunk bastard"
you've got me there
|
| |
I think they call that a zinger
|
| |
I am the liquor treb
|
| |
30 Seconds to the Horizon
x2
Holy shit is this a generic piece of garbage. Shocked to see so many positive comments here.
|
| |
I actually enjoy it. I just hope they don't completely ditch the screams/heaviness.
I bet they will. I remember seeing an old interview with them and they talked about the band listening pretty much exclusively to pop music. Oli said the one of the reasons why the band played metal was because he was a pretty shite singer. Well, now he can sing and my guess is they'll probably be moving further down the pop route.
I'm sure I'm misquoting and whatnot, but I remember that what I i gathered and interpreted from the interview.
|
| |
Oli has sucked live for years tho. I'm 100% certain he won't be able to pull the singing off live.
|
| |
tbh when was the last time you've seen them live
|
| |
Saw them in 2010 and oli's voice was shot to hell. And I've watched the plethora of high quality youtube vids too (obviously don't watch the potato cam vids).
I like his voice, not saying he isn't enjoyable to listen to. But it's like Mastodon, vocals aren't their strongest thing in terms of live.
|
| |
yes olis voice was shot to hell in 2010 and
|
| |
And from what I've seen and heard he has never been the most consistent. I am hoping he can pull them off live and kick ass but I just don't see it happening.
|
| |
This is my favorite indie pop-rock band.
|
| |
Good song.
|
| |
30 Seconds to the Horizon [3]
|
| |
Grows on you, this one. After a few listens, it is actually pretty good.
|
| |
Agreed
|
| |
it's not what i expected, but i enjoy it all the same. it's poppier than anything else they've done, but so what.
one negative i agree with is that the lyrics are pretty generic. oli's capable of pretty strong writing, but i guess they're just trying to go as poppy as possible here, which makes way for shit lyricism. i'm pretty fine with it, though.
|
| |
I don't think they'll go full pop. They'll know that 4 albums in it would be a bad move to entirely abandon your old sound unless you do it under a new name. Bands that can get away with massive stylistic shifts are already really eclectic or do it early. To make a stylistic shift this big would completely throw them into a musical no man's land. They won't be able to tour with the metalcore bands because the new output will be so different but they won't fit in with the indie crowd or be nearly established enough. If they did it as a side project, without the need to completely discard the band's previous output, they could do it.
|
| |
Not to mention the shit they'd get for selling out if they entirely abandoned the heaviness.
|
| |
pretty boring song, nothing really stands out. I don't get Thrice comparisons, Thrice made the transition from post-hardcore to rock much more smoother. And don't get me started on the case that Thrice's material is waaaaay better than this shit.
|
| |
I'm finally listening to Sempiternal and I'm honestly pretty confused as to why this is considered such a step above this is a hell, I just listened to that one for the first time since it came out a few weeks ago and I thought the writing on some of the songs (especially the opener) was fantastic. This song and their last album are kinda on cruise control tbh
|
| |
I will agree thoigh, oli does have some of the better lyrics in this genre. This wasn't my thing lyrically. Still not as bad Real Friends which sits on the other side of the spectrum.
|
| |
"I just listened to that one for the first time since it came out a few weeks ago"
Wait wut? There Is a Hell came out in 2010...
|
| |
I think Sempiternal is an improvement over There Is a Hell mostly because of the superior incorporation of electronics and elements of other genres, but I could definitely see the case being made for There Is a Hell as the superior album.
|
| |
Oliver said in the interview that this is not necessary the direction they're going. It's just a single and it won't be on the next album.
But song is not bad for a rock track...
|
| |
'Wait wut? There Is a Hell came out in 2010...'
I mean I just listened to it a few weeks ago for the first time since it came out.
|
| |
"I mean I just listened to it a few weeks ago for the first time since it came out."
Oh I read that wrong lol... yeah I'm also just getting more into their albums. There are definitely some elements of There Is a Hell I find superior to Sempiternal but overall I think they've gotten better with each album.
|
| |
'you're a drunk bastard'
Best first comment ever
|
| |
'I think they've gotten better with each album.'
Song writing has gotten stronger with every album, but their best sound was There's a Hell... for sure
|
| |
Lacking BMTH's usual energy, but the atmosphere is nice. I like his vocals too, I think the half fucked up singing works here surprisingly well.
|
| |
Really what it all comes down to is: would you rather another emodeathcore release or this? Sorry if the minority gets butthurt but this is a vast improvement from anything else they've tried out.
|
| |
DjentyNerdo
|
| |
The fact you referred to it as emodeathcore invalidates your entire comment.
|
| |
"emodeathcore"
if anything it was just melodic deathcore
or you know, just deathcore
|
| |
This song sucks. I've tried twice and have no interest in trying again. The only thing worse may be the awful video. Honestly I really enjoyed this bands last 2 albums but with this single [as others have said] they went full 30 seconds to the horizon on us.
|
| |
Track is actually pretty good I like it
|
| |
why do i continue to log into this site
|
| |
because you love us
|
| |
anyone got any emodeathcore recs i'm interested in expanding my taste
|
| |
30 Seconds To Mars with just as awful faux-avantgarde videos
Not a bad song and I do kinda like the direction they're going in
|
| |
I really liked 30 Seconds to Mars' long videos before they started doing them for EVERY SONG.
|
| |
and scene girls everywhere cry while burning all of their bmth warped tour merch in the bath tub.
|
| |
Not liking this much.
And that friggin fill at 0:18 is totally out of sync in the video lol
|
| |
Sauce, scene girls will love this. Can bet your ass that tumblr will be filled with lryics to this everywhere.
|
| |
Lyrics are pretty bad
|
| |
sweet song
|
| |
It's alright. I think that their last album did the whole 'sing, build, sing, build, sing, build, build, yell, jizz, end' wombo combo a little better.
I think that if they paired this only with even heavier, crazier stuff, it would turn out really well. Like, if they took their last album and kept doing that, only better, longer and more realized they could come out with a fantastic album. This is an alright pop song.
|
| |
I think they need to stick to that There Is A Hell style but just experiment more. Kind of what they did on Sempiternal but they kept reverting to their old style too much, like Anti-Vist, House Of Wolves, Sleepwalking, Shadow Moses, etc. They weren't awful, it's just annoying knowing how capable these guys are now. I listened to There Is A Hell fully only yesterday and ,God, It was amazing. Almost 5 material for me with tracks like Memorial/Blessed with a Curse, F*ck, Crucify Me, Don't Go, and It Never Ends. if they redid that album, only with more of the buildup stuff, instrumental ambiance, amazing climaxes, etc. It would be a 5. I really want them to do that. I honestly love this band, I just hate when they set themselves back like this. This wasn't a terrible song by any means, but it's so bland after a couple listens
I'm sorry, I've commented so many times on this thread
|
| |
Literally what me, mall and Talons say in every BMTH thread
|
| |
wow, shit song. Reminds me of Kerrang crap 5 years ago
|
| |
Choccy we're soulmates can I be in the gang?
|
| |
No, because you like Antivist ;]
|
| |
'they kept reverting to their old style too much, like Anti-Vist, House Of Wolves, Sleepwalking, Shadow Moses, etc. They weren't awful, it's just annoying knowing how capable these guys are now.'
I said it wasn't awful ;-;
|
| |
Bert I totally agree
Listened to their last album again today and it's grown on me a bit though
|
| |
Basically, if these guys can mix their songwriting experimentation on There is a Hell with their sonic experimentation of Sempiternal, we could be in for a worldie. That was the main problem with Semp, it focussed too much on their new, fancy electronics and their songwriting abilities suffered as a result.
However, based on this song, it isn't going to happen
|
| |
It's grown on me quite a lot since i first listened.
|
| |
I think they experimented kind of more on There Is A Hell, just with the different instruments, minor electronics, acoustic passages, etc. They kind of mastered it on Semp but it sounded better on There is A Hell for some reason. I dug most of the guest vocalists too
|
| |
Bring Me The Fall Out Boy...terrible
|
| |
original
|
| |
lol remember when these guys got bottled off stage in australia for straightening their hair before the show?
|
| |
no but lol.
|
| |
so over-rated
|
| |
ppl here is aus love them. They must have opened for a metal band with spergy metal fans.
|
| |
lol remember when these guys got bottled off stage in australia for straightening their hair before the show?
Funny how fickle people are, isn't it?
|
| |
I think this is their best song. I could dig an album of just this.
|
| |
Heard this all before though
|
| |
I love this song. I really hope that their new album sounds like this.
|
| |
I love this song. I really hope that their new album sounds like this.
|
| |
I couldn't disagree more. they're stagnating
|
| |
I love this song. I really hope that their new album sounds like this.
|
