Did Winston lose a bet and have to dress like Ali G for this video?
Songs boring, same stadium rock they’ve been doing for close to the last decade.

My name is Parkway D, J'habite a Byron Bay
| |
These lyrics are painful
| |
Yuck...and the forced breakdown doesn't help at all
| |
Other than the predictable breakdown, this sounds like it could fit on the new Machine Head album. That is not meant as a compliment (to either band).
| |
Alright ol yeller, behind the shed you go
| |
darker still is nowhere near the atrocity it is claimed to be, but i have heard this exact sequence of semi-breakdown chug riff in about 7 other instances i cannot name, and that is an atrocity. me listening to chug music i mean
| |
Desperately screams for a "Hip-hop guy reacts to rock music by making the horns up sign with a weirdly open mouth thumbnail" type of video in response.
| |
Its not good
| |
Such an overrated band
| |
putting the butt in buttrock with this one
| |
I really thought we'd be back at a Parkway Drive return to their roots album at this point. But I guess that's another five years away
| |
The chorus melody sounds aped from Somewhere I Belong.
| |
These guys have been sniffing their own farts for way too long. Winston's mannerisms are so fucking cringe. Terribly generic song. ^^^Definitely sounds like Somewhere I Belong in the chorus.
| |
Hip-hop enthusiast reacts to rock music FOR THE FIRST TIME by making the horns up sign [OMG] [EMOTIONAL] [2025] REACTION/REVIEW 2025
| |
Also don't I remember that they don't like Metalcore anymore? Like they were bored of it or something, but then continue to release butt-core anyway? If you guys hate Metalcore, why is there a lame drawn out breakdown in your song in 2025 that sounds more like a Deathcore breakdown than a classic Parkway one?
| |
Band died after Atlas
| |
I know 30 somethings that think this is the real shit, like actual rock music.
| |
Pretty much what I expected. A moderately catchy, predictable radio anthem.
| |
"Hip-hop enthusiast reacts to rock music FOR THE FIRST TIME by making the horns up sign [OMG] [EMOTIONAL] [2025] REACTION/REVIEW 2025"
I had a visceral reaction to this, I hate that shit so much
| |
parkway drive is not a good band
| |
Wait what are you guys smoking?
This has an anthemic chorus but it's still metal and there's no way casual rock/radio listeners would enjoy this
It's also steaming dog shit
| |
yeah those reaction videos are lame asf
hip hop head pretends to love Metallica (as if they've never heard a song by them) and metalhead pretends to love k dot (as if they've never heard a song by them)
Never any authentic reaction or criticism because viewers just want to see someone of a different scene validate their favorite music, never any interesting feedback because they're dumb as fuck and don't want to risk alienating any viewers
So why do I still find myself watching them from time to time?
| |
Why am I only noticing now that the vocalist looks like Fred Again lol
| |
LMAO^
| |
Music for meth heads on the gold coast
| |
Oh dear. This is bad.
| |
vape-core
| |

I feel the fuck outta this dude.
| |
Yeah, I will never understand the appeal of watching other people listen to music
Feels so awkward to me lol
| |
Song is ass btw, just like everything they've done since Atlas.
| |
"Yeah, I will never understand the appeal of watching other people listen to music"
I like the composer guy that does this. It's fun to watch people discover something you enjoy
| |
He has insight other than "OOH THAT WAS SICK" though
| |
ugh, will always love em for opening up the Aussie heavy music scene to the world but they don't have anything interesting to offer now
| |
"Music for meth heads on the gold coast"
And bogans
| |
The venn diagram of metheads and bogans is a circle.
| |
Pretty sure AI could write a better Parkway Drive song than Parkway Drive
| |
trash band
| |
One constant is how useless the bass player is for this band. Recruited way back when, had to actually learn how to play bass, and fast forward to 2025 and he's given 1.4 seconds of screen time in the new music video. It's cool that these guys are eternal buddies but their heydays are well behind them.
| |
"I remember when Parkway Drive wrote pretty good metalcore songs"
"Alright Grandpa let's get you to bed."
| |
It's been a hard fall since KWAS and Horizons
| |
Ire and Reverence do what they are supposed to do pretty well. It's all cheesy and watered down in comparison to the first two, but before Darker Still that formula worked just fine.
| |
Ire kind of worked as a fun experiment, then they took that experiment double downed on it and injected it into their veins and started endlessly shitting on the floor
| |
awful band and they have been awful for nearly 20 years
| |
That breakdown was beyond shoehorned holy hell
| |
I don’t love this but as far as a mix of their old and new sound goes, I much prefer it to anything off of their last 3 albums
| |
[REDACTED]
| |
They haven't released a good album since Atlas
| |
I don't get the praise for Atlas, it's the closest they got to making a bad album at the time. Ire and Reverence are stylistically worse, but have better execution.
| |
Yeah when it dropped I thought Atlas was an interesting lil sidestep for them whilst still retaining many of their hallmarks. Over time I’ve definitely cooled on it
Also lmao what’s the new worst song?
| |
To be fair, none. Had some second thoughts, but this one remains unmatched. Makes If a God Can Bleed sound like a genuinely good track.
| |
This band has always been super mid. First 2 records are alright if you're just getting into metalcore, but I'd rather listen to The Ghost Inside, and even then, I'd rather listen to Misery Signals.
| |
It's not that Atlas receives resounding praise, it doesn't, it's more a case of it being the last album they made before they really started shitting the bed.
| |
One of my coworkers was hying this up to me yesterday so I gave it a try... I wish I had not given it a try. Exhaustingly boring.
| |
This band is one of the four horsemen of bands that get progressively worse with each release
| |
The other 3?
| |
Im intrigued. Could say that about so many metalcore OGs.
I can't imagine even the most staunch PWD fan hyping this thing up. This has to be the most cookie-cutter, lackluster single they have ever put out. The song has absolutely nothing going for it. They are not even trying anymore.
| |
why would they, you should see the crowds they draw at music festivals, people just have shit tastes
or perhaps they put on a good show but I'm allergic to their stuff
| |
I understand subjectivity, people like what they like and that's absolutely fine, but I just find it bewildering how a seasoned listener of PWD/Metalcore could shout to the rooftops about this song particularly. I mean categorically, it's a formulaic song that pushes no boundaries and marks no evolution of their sound.
Some things simply just hit with people I guess.
Anyway, I want to know who the other 3 declining members
of the four horseman of metalcore are???
| |
I too am curious
| |
As I Lay Dying is definitely in that camp regardless of Timmy Man-boobs' issues. Everything after the The Powerless Rise has been getting progressively more stale and boring.
| |
I too am curious but more from the perspective of the challenge of limiting it to only four bands
| |
"I know 30 somethings that think this is the real shit, like actual rock music."
Stop hanging around those people.
| |
a massive step up from their last album
| |
If the next LP is going to sound like this, I want another Darker Still.
There's reportedly a live album to be released, they better not play this song.
| |
The live album is going to be from their show at the Sydney Opera house with the Sydney symphonic orchestra. I'm absolutely spewing that I can't see that.
| |
Setlist for the Opera house show will be interesting, i didnt bother trying for tickets it, my interest in the band is underground. Also hauling ass up to Shitdney for a show i would have forked out for Mikaels stand up show with Opeth
