Album description/news got me super hyped, but the single didn't do much for me.
| |
I was expecting something more explosive at some point on that song
| |
Having expectations for Kayo Dot is funny.
| |
Choirs of the Eye is still one of my favorite albums, so i will give it a chance.
| |
Eat a dick Josh.
Album should be great.
| |
Josh wtf??? Band has never released a bad album.
| |
guys, hear me out here, but could he just mean to "expect the unexpected" due to their experimental nature?
| |
Possibly!
| |
josh clearly meant that it's funny to have expectations for what the music will sound like with this band (IE 'something more explosive')
| |
yes lol, josh comment is fair + cogent
looking forward to this alb, but might save the single til it drops. caught TD/Alora Crucible a few weeks ago and the Oak Lace Apparition stuff was magical, but it's been too long since we last got to hear new KD
| |
Great band
| |
Wish he'd tour the US with Alora Crucible, I would love to see them live. But after Blasphemy and They Are The Shield tours I did see, I doubt he'll ever come back through our area again.
| |
great single — nice video.
hype immanent.
| |
the song legit sounds like one massive crescendo that never hits the desirable peak
I've never felt this blueballed before
| |
I rescind my precoffee snark. Expecting anything sound wise from KD is fools play yeah.
These new turnstile singles tho… fucking lololol
| |
turnstile can f right off agreed
| |
"josh clearly meant that it's funny to have expectations for what the music will sound like with this band"
How this wasn't the immediate thought is an indictment on some of you. I have Dowsing on vinyl ffs
| |
I’m a cranky fuck most times. Pre coffee it’s worse lmao.
| |
"I have Dowsing on vinyl ffs"
plz change your sput display name to something that reflects this i have very strong feelings on this matter + for you generally
| |
Mods, please change my name to DowsingOnVinyl or ImmortelleAndPaperCaravelle.
The song is nice, but I agree it's a bit underwhelming. Toby loves a meandering violin though!
| |
Starting a coke rap group called Yayo Dot
| |
DowsingOnVinyl is a pretty cool name out of context and I can’t explain why
idk much about the recent evolution of this band, but it definitely feels like too much hard graft to catch up. Maybe I’ll eventually check whichever one comes after Coyote
| |
despite this ^ I’m starting a cover band called Kayo Not
| |
better hire Tod Oyak on guitar
| |
can they just go back to the Choirs of the Eye sound? fuck
| |
why bother trying to recreate something a lot of people feel they perfected? Been there, done that etc.
Innovative, forward-thinking creatives tend not to rest on their laurels.
| |
Excited as hell for the new album, especially with the line up. We ate well last year with a solo album, Alora Crucible, and Bloodmist.
| |
Everything about the album cover, title, tracklist, track lengths, descriptions, is making my pp hard
| |
Hoping they take it back a bit from their last few albums. Hubardo is still their masterpiece.
| |
Beautiful song. Very Alora Crucible reminiscent. Byron laid down vox on this album, so there will be mayhem.
| |
One of the greatest metal bands ever, maudlin too
| |
Single has gotten better and better after repeated listens. I’m very excited to hear what the rest of the album has to offer. Heads up, the 2xCD deluxe edition features a bonus track, instrumentals, and a 32 page book.
| |
decent as always.

Eh, I love KD and get every album, but I wouldn't disagree that they haven't put out anything of legitimately high quality since Hubardo. Some of their stuff is still super fun tho.
| |
Single is v haunting and beautiful
| |
Most anticipated album of the year unless Luc Lemay takes out his 7 string guitar and says hi.
Kayo Dot still a top 5 band of all time and Toby still a generational talent.
PS: Single rules as expected
| |
Kayo Dot are exceptional and I have high hopes this new album will also be exceptional.

"I wouldn't disagree that they haven't put out anything of legitimately high quality since Hubardo. Some of their stuff is still super fun tho."
i tend to agree with this, everything they've released since is nice but atmospherically simply lacking compared to hubardo
i really like this single honestly, but i still kinda hope it doesn't represent the album as a whole, i know they can make it work but their recent efforts don't exactly inspire confidence for me
| |
This sounds more like Toby Driver's solo stuff, but that's not a criticism.
| |
Some of yall need to relisten to Blasphemy, pretty underrated album. This sounds good I'm interested to hear more.
| |
I'm catching up on KD stuff I haven't heard before and yeah, the avg for Blasphemy is too low, should be higher!
| |
this band is so musty
| |
Blasphemy was rated relatively low when I first heard it, but it's fucking amazing. They all are.
| |
swag band
| |
I really like Blasphemy and got to see them on tour for it which slapped
| |
anticipation high, I've been more into toby's other projects over the last few years but this sounds really cool
| |
@Veldin they sounded really good on that tour
| |
Yeah dual drummers sounded amazing and Ron Varod on guitar is great
| |
