The new song and the previous one are '80s metal worships, which is awesome.
| |
love that intro/outro! Song is pretty Mastodon.
| |
these assholes, they would release a song that they made a teaser for and also got leaked.
| |
anyways, awesome song.
| |
it was set for a release date as a single. how are they assholes for doing that? ^^
| |
the artwork of this album gives me a headache but man i'm stoked.
| |
I love this new song. High Roads is really growing on me too after initially hating it
| |
for one, High Roads grooves live. they played it last friday when I saw them at an open fields day in Stockholm and it brought the metuhls.
| |
dat intro/outro, and they actually say "our hearts alive}.
| |
man, 2:45 is such a Leviathan riff, seriously loving this. Also this is way better then High Road
| |
"it was set for a release date as a single. how are they assholes for doing that? ^^"
i think youre overthinking my comment, its not meant to be taken seriously. im implying that theyre assholes for releasing a song we've all pretty much already heard instead of something new.
| |
This song is awesome. I wasn't a huge fan of I road but this is a lot better.
| |
@Adolf: that would make the leakers assholes though wouldn't it? I didn't take it seriously, hence the "^^". stoked for the new album?
| |
@osmark86: how were the live vocals for High Roads?
| |
Chimes sounds much better here than it did when they played it in Seattle a few weeks ago. That might be because I've consumed considerably less beer than I had that night...
Looking forward to the album!
| |
Bit underwhelmed. Will probably just listen to High Road before the album is out now. Mastodon songs often sound better in the context of the album they belong to.
| |
-------
| |
Excellent
| |
song is awesome. lovin the love in here so far too. inb4 song sucks band sucks now
| |
@OldSport: the vocals were pretty damn on key when I caught them. good shit all around. had fun surfing them crowds as well.
| |
song is sweet.
They still wont be able to pull the vocals off live though. Thats probs why they use that A tuning so much, easier to hit the notes.
This and new Opeth can't come soon enough.
| |
This and High Road both kicked ass live. They put on a great show, too. Surprisingly energetic... Troy was running around like a madman and getting the crowd into it.
| |
that's the thing about mastodon...sometimes they're energetic as hell and the vox are on point, and then there's other times when they just stand still and can't hit any of the notes
| |
thankfully the show I attended was of the former kind.
| |
last time i saw them was the best i've ever seen them, so maybe they're becoming more dedicated to it. or maybe brent is just a little soberer now
| |
he was so messed up the first time I saw them they turned him down, second time they were more focused and while the
vocals were better they still kind of sucked. The playing was tight though.
Brann brings it live every time though, his drumming is beastly.
| |
hey, that's awesome
| |
sounds about right chug
| |
Great song. Really looking forward to this album.
| |
Song is easily better than High Road
| |
god the vox are horrid
song's ok.
| |
If this album is generally High Road / Chimes quality, I'll be satisfied. Just no more Curl of the Burl snoozefests, please.
| |
Song is okay. I know mastodon is trying to be more commercial know but man would I kill for some old school mastodon heaviness.
| |
This sounds good, better than High Road imho, which wasn't that bad. Looking forward to this album.
| |
That intro/outro, damn. Song's great, can't wait to see the full album
| |
Fell out of love with these guys a long time ago.
| |
Yeah I miss 2002-2009 Mastodon. Seems like a different band since then as far as new material.
| |
god the vox are horrid
song's ok. [2]
just more mediocrity. guess it should be expected at this point.
| |
still in love with these dudes thankfully. have been falling out of love with a lot of my former favorite bands lately
| |
meh...I guess it's ok?
| |
better than high road
| |
Song is real good!
| |
Pretty good
| |
sounds like something off of Crack the Skye. digging this track more than High Road so far.
| |
really boring imo
| |
I feel like the last two albums have had really thick production. Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye were really intricate sometimes...the creepy guitar lines in Siberian Divide and mellow, swirling organ of The Czar are gone in favor big slabs of radio-friendly crunch. I want Matt Bayles back.
| |
I like the pacing of this song
Reminds me of The Wolf is Loose
| |
both songs are very decent. sounds like its going to be better than the hunter for sure
| |
Fantastic tune, literally dropped my jaw with this one. Wasn't into High Road's mix of sludge riffs and the unfitting poppy chorus that made the song suffer of uncohesiveness. But this, dudes didn't rock as hard since Crack The Skye.
| |
its sweet, very crack the skye
| |
The vox are def hit and miss but I'm digging the energy, far more interesting than most of The Hunter.
| |
this albums gonna be like crack the sky on acid
| |
crack the hunter
| |
Def diggin that Leviathan-esque riffage around the 2:40 mark m/
| |
Much better than High Road but these vocals are really hard to enjoy.
| |
Nothing they haven't done before, unfortunately.
| |
^thats your only comment? you sick fuck
| |
It's pretty good I guess
| |
intro and ending are great, rest is meh
| |
I MUCH prefer this to High Road.
| |
idk i actually like high road better, this is deff more crack the sky-ish and technical but high road is catchy af and that main riff is awesome
| |
@pedro: i couldnt agree more
| |
I want more Crack The Skye mastodon...The Last Baron was such an epic song . I require more of that. The hunter didn't really do it for me so I hope this can
| |
Loved both songs so far. Stoked for the album.
| |
Great song. Very Cracke the Skye vibes.
| |
My only problem is the chords in the verse (not that cool pull off stuff) remind me of Scott Kelly's bridge in Spectrelight. They also appear in similar in High Road.
I'm worried this will be the first "good" mastodon album instead of the usual great.
| |
this is going to be better than The Hunter
| |
high road is catchy af and that main riff is awesome
Personally I thought the main riff was boring, and they just played it over and over the whole time.
| |
you think its repetitive, i get it. they don't play that riff over and over the whole time though
| |
Idk what all of you guys are smoking but I'm really digging High Road more than Chimes. High Road had a much sweeter groove and cathier chorus.
| |
I think the vox kill this band for me. It's kinda like Anvil; killer music and really sub-par vocals.
| |
Not a fan of their old vox either?
| |
Vox only bothered me on Live at the Aragon. Brent ruined "The Last Baron" in particular.
| |
---
| |
They need to go back to their old vocals, e.g. Leviathan and Remission. I get too much of a Ozzy vibe from most of Brent's vocals (not in a good way either) and I miss Troy's yells/growls.
| |
that song was way better than anything off the Hunter, i'm impressed with how slightly above average this is, what a step up good going mastodon
| |
classic pots comment^
song rules hunter was good but this should be better
| |
if the rest of the songs maintain this level of mildly decent quality we should really be in for an extremely mildly tolerable album boys
| |
Well that sucked
| |
