Awesome artwork. The Hunter was great and so was the new track so really excited for this.
| |
wow it's like a mix of '70s and '90s (extreme metal)
| |
I dig
| |
I'm pleasantly surprised now that I know this is a colaboration with Rings of Saturn.
| |
Thanks for getting me really excited, then telling me I have to wait till the end of June.
| |
Dat cover
| |
eh. at least it's better than the hunter's " artwork "
| |
nothing wrong with the hunter's art
just the music. and this will prob be another case in where the artwork appeals more than the music.
| |
I'm pleasantly surprised now that I know this is a collaboration with Rings of Saturn. [2]
| |
$70 for a double LP? Yea okay
| |
First night of tour was yesterday, and they played at least half that album

Not really dude, its a p kickass set!
| |
thats a good setlist but i didnt think it was possible for them to not play blood+thunder
| |
Hearts Alive dude fuck, what a great opening song.
| |
Cover art rules
| |
Artwork looks trippy as fuck! Last album was pretty fun for a little over half of it. It would be amazing to hear another Leviathan though. Will check them out.
| |
Best artwork they've ever had.
| |
Artwork is pretty sweet!
If these guys are any good this Sunday I'll look into them more.
| |
Pretty fucking crazy
kinda reminds me of an Acid Witch album cover
| |
dope as hell
| |
don't like mastodon but that is some dope artwork
| |
Yeah it looks pretty
| |
Eye sore
| |
I'm glad they always have vibrant artwork, not like grey words over a black background or something bland like that. Album will slay.
| |
Thumbs up for the Breaking Bad reference in the title of the first song.
| |
Pretty awesome artwork
| |
This is going to rule, I just know it.
If not, feel free to make fun of this comment until the end of your days.
| |
Hefty price tag...
| |
Great artwork though.
| |
It's almost like the artwork is important or something
| |
Er.. if you appreciate physical releases and art, then yeah it is.
| |
Art is not really my thing, but to each his own
| |
"It's almost like the artwork is important or something"
aw hip kid, can't appreciate anything can u hip kid? it's ok, hip kid
| |
If they open the set on the 16th with Hearts Alive I might just die. That's been my favorite song since like...2006.
| |
it's Death Metal on acid.
| |
"$70 for a double LP? Yea okay"
Somebody can't read
Art looks sweet, it's just too bad the music probably won't be
| |
Snap judgement.
| |

cover art screams "smoke weed"
| |
Am I the only person that doesn't enjoy Mastadon?
| |
Scroll through some Mastodon boards ^
| |
science has gone too far
| |
"am i the only person that......"
shut the fuk up.
| |
Hah!
I'll admit I haven't listened to anything after Leviathan. Maybe I'll have to check out some of their newer stuff.
| |
Crack the Skye >>>
| |
Jesus Christ, $70 for a double LP vinyl? Pass.
Art is woah.
| |
If the album art and new song are any indicator, this will completely blow The Hunter out of the water
| |
$70 for a double LP? Yea okay [2]
| |
So awesome!
| |
sick artwork. was expecting nothing less from these guys.
| |
that artwork is the shit. too bad they stuck with that lame album title.
| |
The artwork is fucking SIKKKKK. Not 70$ sick though. The Hunter wasn't my favorite, hoping for a regression back to their rawer sound
| |
Artwork looks like a magic the gathering card
| |
"$70 for a double LP? Yea okay"
apparently you have some sort of selective reading disability.
"INCLUDES:
Two 180g LP Vinyl
Four exclusive lithographs derived from the album artwork
Album on CD
All housed in a quadruple gatefold vinyl jacket featuring artwork by Skinner"
still overpriced, but not as bad as you make it sound.
| |
I am suddenly more interested in hearing this record. Dat artwork [123890]
| |
So pretty
| |
The artwork is really great but not sure if better than Remission. Anyway, they differ in style, so any comparison is unreasonable. Have really high standards for this record. Hope it's gonna be one of top ten of 2014.
| |
this is drugs visualized
it's glorious
| |
I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up about this album. It's not working.
| |
I'm a fan of all of their album covers but man, I am not feeling this one. It literally looks like Rings of Saturn and ugh
| |
So much better than The Hunter's art. Possibly their best even.
| |
That is seriously cool.
| |
This and Pale Communion can't come soon enough.
| |
That cover art looks awesome. It has a psychedelic, somewhat Nineties look to it.
| |
Sick ass art
| |
sweeeetttt
| |
Ahaha oh my god I saw the artwork then spent 10 minutes googling to discover that it is, in fact, a different artist than Rings of Saturd
| |
video is 4:20, heh.
| |
to anyone comparing the art to rings of saturn...
http://www.metal-archives.com/images/2/8/9/2/289220.jpg
| |
Doesn't look very similar to me.
| |
It looks cool, but I miss their old style album covers (remission - crack the skye)
| |

| |
cover is awesome. album will rule just like the hunter
| |
^
This
| |
Listened too Mastodon for the first time yesterday after I saw this article. Thought The Hunter was terrible and Leviathan was great need to listen more. Don't know what too expect from this but i hope it's more like Leviathan than Hunter but I kinda doubt it
| |
no offense but i couldn't care less about your opinion considering you just started listening to band yesterday.
| |
...erm, good point.
| |
album artwork and song rules. don't know why I haven't listened to The Hunter more.
| |
[10] amirite?
| |
Great band
| |
cool artwork, the added bonuses don't justify the price though
| |
awesome artwork.
also hate to disappoint anyone who thinks they're going back to their old sound, but Bill has said otherwise, that they want to progress more with the Hunter sound, the new music is more chorus driven and is influenced by older rock and metal bands. He says that they don't want to keep doing the same record over and over again, they've already done their proggy stuff. http://loudwire.com/mastodon-bill-kelliher-once-more-round-the-sun/
| |
goddammit, that interview worries me. theyre well on their way to becoming a radio-"metal" band.
| |
Aslong as it's quality radio-metal I don't care. The Hunter was solid.
| |
thats the whole point of the term, radio-metal isnt quality, its watered down.
| |
The Hunter was good. The band was spot on when they said it sounded like "a super-heavy Led Zeppelin or something".
And just like Led Zeppelin, Mastodon experimented with different styles within that sound.
Of course there is a chance this album could suck but these guys have only become better songwriters over time and as much as I love the jaunty sounds of Leviathan, outright weirdness of Blood Mountain and acid trip of Crack the Skye I look forward to hearing something different from these guys each album.
The radio rock thing is lame, I guess if they want to hear something catchy then I am all for it so long as the quality is there.
I just wish they could pull the vocals off live. Both times I have seen them they really didn't bring it vocally.
| |
sweet artwork
| |
I really don't like their new logo, but I have to say, in the context of this album artwork, it looks pretty sharp. The LP cover definitely looks better than the cd cover, though. I really like it.
I think it's safe to say I have high hopes for this now. The Hunter was ultimately a let down for me. We will see in June, I suppose...
| |
+10 boner length
sooooooo stoked
| |
i think that radiohead thing was just something brent said sarcastically
| |
Couldn't agree more with basically everything Chug said.
| |
"i think that radiohead thing was just something brent said sarcastically"
was just thinking these guys were high af if they thought this had radiohead influences
| |
that high road song is so meh though
| |
It's good. Reserving judgement till the LP is out.
| |
