Cynic record new album

2012-12-13 by Voivod STAFF | 124 Comments
Cynic have begun work for a new album, the release of which will take place during the first months of 2013.

According to Paul Masvidal:

The new material sounds more "futuristic" and "alien" compared to prior endeavors. Every song is more self-contained, in terms of music and lyrics. This is something completely new for us.

Woo! Their last ep was awesome, been waiting for a full new album. The "futuristic" and "alien" comments make me hopeful too.

I've been hoping for them to create a 20 minute epic...wonder what the chances of one being on here are? Probably none..

They're recording in Perfect Sound studios in Hollywood.

Sean Reinert said: "This album marks Cynic's 5th release. It's a bold new sound for Cynic and marks a gigantic leap in the band's progression. We've had a lot of time to let this material develop and gestate, and it finally feels ready to be unleashed on the world. I've been in trio mode with Malone and Masvidal flushing out a zillion and one details, and couldn't be happier about what's happening with these songs. They are truly alive!"

Apparently early working titles for tracks include: "Endlessly Bountiful", "Moon Heart Sun Head", and "True Hallucination Speak".
