Libertines reunite for Leeds

2010-03-29 by Knott- EMERITUS | 36 Comments
Shambolic UK indie-rockers The Libertines are due to perform at major UK festivals in Leeds and Reading this summer in their first full reunion since the band split in 2004. The group will play the main stage second-from-headline slot at Leeds on Friday 27 August and Reading the following day.

Pete Doherty told NME: "We're going to get together, play songs which have been collecting dust in the garage. People want to hear them, so we’re going to give them a run. We'll be playing them like we’re playing them for the last ever time."

Leeds and Reading's main stage headliners are Blink-182, Arcade Fire and Guns N' Roses. The first set of official lineup announcements can be found at http://www.leedsfestival.com/lineup/

reckon they wouldve had a headline slot if the organisers were more than 30% sure doherty would turn up

But kinda musically talented if and when he wants. Tbh I prefer Barat by a long shot, but he works best with Doherty so I stick by my opinion of this being a good thing.

Up the Bracket is a pretty good record. Their self titled was kind of average. Some of the demos of earlier tracks are decent.

I'm going but it isn't the best lineup i've ever seen, GnR's are going to be a bit shit with it just being Axel.

Also Doherty is the biggest shithead in the world of music, my mates spent alot of money to go see Babyshambles and guess who didn't turn up.

some great bands but a lot of mediocre ones too. pretty sure it'll get better once more bands are announced but yeah, other festivals have far better headliners

Worst line-up ever at reading. Blink, Arcade Fire and a Guns N Roses tribute band featuring Axel Rose. Aweful.

VS AC/DC, Megadeth, Motorhead, Deftones, Aerosmith, Lamb of God, Them Crooked Vultures and Rage. I know where i'm going. (Download)

Download dicks on Reading this year. Can't wait for Coheed.

But in general, back in the day, Reading has the better range.
