Arcade Fire album details

Arcade Fire have revealed the first details of the follow-up to their universally acclaimed debut Funeral.

The Canadian indie stars have been working on the new LP for some months, following a spectacular 2004 and 2005, in which they released their breakthrough record and played with the likes of David Bowie.

Speaking in a posting on their official website, frontman Win Butler said the band had been recording their second album in a renovated church in Montreal, utilising new instruments such as "a huge f--king pipe organ."

Butler writes: "Just letting you know that things are going very well here in the studio. We have maybe 15 songs with little bits left to record and a few more we want to get to tape. We are going to try and record a couple of songs in me and Regine's living room, because the drums sound so great in there...Feeling excited and inspired, learning to play all these new instruments...Well mostly Regine to be honest! It's gonna be really interesting how we're going to fit all of these new sounds in a tour bus."

Adds Butler: "There is talk of recording a few songs with a full orchestra in Budapest...The next couple of weeks we will be pulling our hair out."

I'm hoping they don't screw up the follow up, I'm looking forward to this release more than nearly any other.

yeah same here. the first album was so promising and so, dare I say it, perfect, that a dissapointing second album will be devestating.

I thought it was funny the way they described a church organ that they're using as "a f*cking huge pipe organ."

This is probably the release I'm looking forward to most. Funeral was a spectacular album, and if they're new stuff is like Cold Wind this album will definitely be a keeper.

Hope they tour Canada soon. And not anywhere else.

We be reprezentin
