I know it's not as "alternative" to say this, but this album really isn't that bad. Some filler here and there, which is honestly expected with 17 or 18 songs, but there's a lot of great stuff on here I won't lie.

I don't understand who they're catering to. Obviously their demographic is preadolescent boys and girls, but the content is not for them. (Though I'd argue that the content is for no one at all, given its quality.) There is not one memorable song on the album, as each one coalesces with the songs before and after into a pile of horse manure.
I swear Last Night On Earth is a huge ripoff of something, but I can't name it. There are others, too.

This album reminds me of Insomniac, not musically but just by the sense that Dookie was a smash hit so Insomniac pretty much tried to recreate Dookie and failed, and this albums trying to recreate American Idiot and failing as well. Oh well i can be in the minority here and like it Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible.

I don't see how anyone could possibly put this album down. I mean it's got great melodies, and is different to standard Green Day. The album concept is amazing, and the lyrics are kickass!

It's got loads of emotion. It's not boring at all. I can't believe people actually think its bad. It isn't very progressive but that's not what you expect from Green Day.

This album is worth 5/5 hands down!

Upon the first listen through, I was distinctly unimpressed. It's pretty much standard AI Green Day only not as good. BJ's vocals are quite good throughout but WOW, it's hard to ignore lyrics as bad/uninspired as some of the songs on this record. Green Day are trying too hard to be "anthemic" and "epic" and it works some of the time and utterly fails on a lot of it. Despite that, it's a good listen and nowhere near the worst album ever. It's hanging around a 3-3.5 for me

I like the album, but is it just me or is there alot of things copied/ripped off from other songs?

The beginning of "Before the Lobotomy" sounds like the beginning of LB's remake of "Behind Blue Eyes".

Chorus of "!Viva La Gloria!" sounds like the verse's of Green Day's own "Letterbomb".

"Peacemaker" is basically "Misery" from "Warning".

Last one I've noticed so far, the chorus in "?Viva La Gloria?", listen to "Blood, Sex and Booze" 2:15 - 2:23. They are almost exactly alike.

Actually the entire album just sorta reeks of "Hey, that sounds like...".This Message Edited On 05.09.09

Pretty good, but nothing special imo. 3.5, maybe 4 at a push, but if I was gonna review it, definitely a 3.5. It seemed a bit directionless at times, overlong, wasn't the best they've done, but it was still Green Day - catchy, fun, in parts interesting. I've gotta say that both Viva La Glorias were two of the best songs Green Day have done. Will probably get this when it comes out, depending on the price.

The more I listen to this CD the more I hear of exact riffs, bass lines and drumming. As awesome as "!Viva La Gloria!" is, it's just a mashup of "Letterbomb", "Prosthetic Head" and various other Green Day songs. The main riff IS "Letterbomb" and "Horseshoes and Handgrenades" is basically a "The Vines" song.

EDIT: Melody for "Static Age" is completely the same as "Church on Sunday" as is the riff. This Message Edited On 05.09.09
