Jordison sells blood on sticks

2009-05-07 by acetasoad | 49 Comments
Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has penned a drum stick endorsement deal with a unique twist - each set of sticks is signed with his own blood!

The 34-year-old has teamed up with drum stick makers Pro Mark and has personally donated his own vein juice to promote his Autograph Series model.

Jordison visited the manufacturers where they took some of his blood and mixed it with the permanent ink.

He commented: "The first wood stick I ever played was a Pro-Mark, so I’m thrilled to be joining the family! To show everyone just how serious I am about my new signature 515s, I’ve even gone as far as putting my own blood in the ink for them. It's not just my signature on these sticks, it's me."

The limited-edition TX515W model drum sticks go on sale from May 15.

Thanks for the report to Gigwise.com.

even though i agree with the AIDS remarks, i bet they barely took any of his blood. The ink will be 99% permanent ink with 1% blood prolly.

i think it's kinda neat. not a huge fan or anything, but this is prolly the next best thing to having the drummer actually sign the stick.

I saw the video of him getting it (the blood) drawn and mixing it with the dye, the cool part was he was wearing a Hellhammer shirt. You'd think, being in Slipknot, he wouldn't even listen to black metal, but he's actually a fan of the genre, he even toured with Satyricon.

The whole thing may seem odd, but he's really an amazing drummer, and a big influence on me, dare I say the biggest. Inferno, Martin Lopez, Gene Hoglan, Thomas Haake, Lombardo, there are so many guys that I'm a fan of, but Jordison's a favorite, he made me want to go out and get a drum set. He's the most talentled guy in Slipknot.

Also, he had a deal with Ahead, not Vic Firth.

I'm not the biggest fan and he isn't the greatest of drummers...but its all in good fun. I'm sure he isn't taking this super seriously and is just having a laugh with it all...as any of us would if we were in his shoes.

Probably getting paid a decent amount and again, its just for shits and giggles. I won't buy 'em as I'm a Vic player myself, all I can say it more power to him for getting some bank while he can.

Agreeing with Balls that this doesn't measure up to Manowar signing their contract in blood, but I still say it's ironic that Joey's endorsement deal turns out to be more metal than Slipknot's entire career.
