The Cult Of Static-X

2009-02-19 by Wolfe | 22 Comments
Industrial metal band Static-X will release their upcoming sixth studio album entitled Cult Of Static on
March 17th through Reprise/Warner Bros. Records.

Frontman Wayne Static has stated the guitars has more of a crunch tone and the album is longer and epic than
most songs released. As a first taste, the song "Lunatic" has been featured on the Punisher:War Zone soundtrack.
The track is now re-recorded for the new album with a guitar solo by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth.

The first single "Stingwray" is a reference to Static's wife Tera Wray (who is a retired porn actress) and her Corvette
Stingray. The song is now streaming in the band's myspace page.

Static also commented on the name of the album.
Quote:
Our fans are so loyal. I'm jokingly calling it a cult, but our fans have that kind of loyalty. We've been
putting out records and touring for ten years now, and I think we can get away with this title.
Artwork and tracklist (shown below) has been released.

1. "Lunatic" - 3:35
2. "Z28" - 3:09
3. "Terminal" - 3:38
4. "Hypure" - 4:15

It could be good like Cannibal. Of course that's only if you liked Cannibal. Stingwray wasn't that good.

Cannibal was hit and miss with me. At least it was a step in the right direction.

Listening to Lunatic, not bad. "Stingwray" sounds... stupid. I don't really want to listen to it. :/

If there's at least one catchy song, all will be good.

Because writing one song that gets stuck in your head is justification for making an albumful of lame songs?

You do have bad taste. This Message Edited On 02.23.09
