some good but a lot of eeurgh
| | | 8's a new one. Cool to see 49 on here. They're fucking cool.
blah blah blah generic otherwise.
| | | Are all these magazines getting paid by the corresponding record labels or something?

| | | "Number 9: Tape of Bob Dylan coughing up some phlegm in June 1972, found in someone's attic, dusted off, reissued, and hagiographised in the Sunday papers as a heartbreaking work of staggering genius."
| | | Yeah, more metal please
| | | Oh hey look it's Lil' Wayne at the #3 spot, what a surprise!
| | | they have a few good albums listed but im not surprised at the load of crap on here. omg metallica came out with and album its automatically going to make our top albums even though it sucks
| | | The Academy Is...? Wow, was surprised to see that.
| | | Maybe the worst list yet. Additionally, where's the love for Portishead?
| | | Cant believe this pathetic list...Metallica behind My morning jacket...how sissy this world has become. Everyone is a bunch of slipper shoe wearing...scarf wearing...coffee drinking scene sissies.
| | | Needs more METAL.

Because not liking generic metal that's only in the public eye because of the band's former glory makes me a sissie?
If so, then sissie I am.This Message Edited On 12.10.08
| | | Seriously guys what an awful blank year in music. Probably the worst since WW2. Dear Science is a great album, but the best album of any year should be miles better.
| | | i guess i'm a slipper shoe wearing...scarf wearing...coffee drinking scene sissy cause i would have also put mmj ahead of metallica. This Message Edited On 12.10.08This Message Edited On 12.10.08
| | | is Traced in Air too much to ask for?
| | | I can't comprehend Lil' Wayne being so high up the list, I mean wtf? And to have Bon Iver so low down is a crime in itself.
#1 is cool though

Like, OMG thats hilarious...
Not a great list, a fair amount of crap but what the hell do you expect. Still, theres plenty of good stuff on here even if it isn't in a good order.

| | | One of the better Top 50 lists.
| | | I guess how sissy someone is can now be scientifically determined by your taste in music.
Excellent finding! We must tell all the papers right away your amazing discovery!
| | | This list makes me want to punch a baby.
| | | I would have to agree with Lucidity. Although this list more or less sucks and everyone knows it, it's sadly one of the better "top albums of '08" lists I've seen.
Also, it seems like any older, more famous artist that releases a new cd this year gets an automatic spot on the list (Dylan, Guns 'n roses, Metallica, AC/DC)...
It doesn't seem like much thought was put into the order of this list as well. Lil Wayne might be good, but he's not #3 good. Bob Dylan got spot #2 most likely just because he's Bob Dylan. It's sad that these magazines have to make lackluster, crowd-pleasing lists like this one so they can stay in business.
Oh and Jonas Brothers? Really?

There's been a lot of good shit this year.

coffee drinking scene sissies
coffee is good fgt
| | |
40. Jonas Brothers, A Little Bit Longer
no one spotted this?
| | | Ya i know it is syn....good old fashioned coffee is great. But i can just picture a kid in girl pants and a green striped scarf standing in line at starbucks to buy a java mocha whatever, while he has my morning jacket blasting through his ears.
| | | why is sigur ros missing?
| | | rolling stone needs to die
| | | The JONAS BROTHERS over No Age???
D:
| | | What were you all expecting?
I thought it was a commonly accepted belief that Rolling Stone has lost all credibility
| | | Again, I don't see why some of you are overreacting. I'm not saying the order is very good, or that there isn't a good amount of crap, but there is some good stuff here. Some of you want your obscure Indie bands on this list and it isn't going to happen with this publication, and any of you with half a brain knew that before looking at the actual list. Even so, I can still spot many good and even great albums on this list.
None of you are superior because you think your "above" Rolling Stone, and saying it is a shell of its former self doesn't prove anything because its been said a million times in the past few years. There really is a lot of elitism here that I find annoying quite often.

What's wrong with that?
Don't get me wrong, I love my metal, and in my opinion the new Metallica is not good.
Also, I'm not even a huge My Morning Jacket fan, I'm just offended by the way you immediately associate a lifestyle with a type of music and thereby discredit that lifestyle.
| | | Good to see the Knux on there.
| | | They should have consulted BullittMan. Then we'd have a MAN'S list.
| | | FINALLY! Some love for that new B.B. King. It's so good!
| | | was the kaiser chief's album really that good?
I was suprised to see it here...
| | | I'm glad Nick Cave is getting love. He's been on most of these lists which is awesome.
| | | mellencamp lol
| | | I want that Eno/Byrne collab... urgh... wants it... Bush of ghosts is great...
| | | its not all that good
| | | Thank you neighbor....its about time someone sees the light.
| | | You're not talking to me, are you?
| | | cant believe they snubbed harvey milk like wtf
| | | this list is pretty gay. for how big some metal is these days, there is a total lack of ANY of it on ALL of these lists. DECIBEL excluded. clearly they'll represent my interests
and no portishead on Rollingstone? fer real? then again, this magazine hasn't had someone on their cover who i could a crap about for about 10 years
| | | where's new pig destroyer
| | |
40. Jonas Brothers, A Little Bit Longer
