Are all these magazines getting paid by the corresponding record labels or something?

Because not liking generic metal that's only in the public eye because of the band's former glory makes me a sissie?

If so, then sissie I am.This Message Edited On 12.10.08

Seriously guys what an awful blank year in music. Probably the worst since WW2. Dear Science is a great album, but the best album of any year should be miles better.

I can't comprehend Lil' Wayne being so high up the list, I mean wtf? And to have Bon Iver so low down is a crime in itself.

#1 is cool though

Like, OMG thats hilarious...

Not a great list, a fair amount of crap but what the hell do you expect. Still, theres plenty of good stuff on here even if it isn't in a good order.

I guess how sissy someone is can now be scientifically determined by your taste in music.

Excellent finding! We must tell all the papers right away your amazing discovery!

I would have to agree with Lucidity. Although this list more or less sucks and everyone knows it, it's sadly one of the better "top albums of '08" lists I've seen.

Also, it seems like any older, more famous artist that releases a new cd this year gets an automatic spot on the list (Dylan, Guns 'n roses, Metallica, AC/DC)...

It doesn't seem like much thought was put into the order of this list as well. Lil Wayne might be good, but he's not #3 good. Bob Dylan got spot #2 most likely just because he's Bob Dylan. It's sad that these magazines have to make lackluster, crowd-pleasing lists like this one so they can stay in business.

Oh and Jonas Brothers? Really?

Again, I don't see why some of you are overreacting. I'm not saying the order is very good, or that there isn't a good amount of crap, but there is some good stuff here. Some of you want your obscure Indie bands on this list and it isn't going to happen with this publication, and any of you with half a brain knew that before looking at the actual list. Even so, I can still spot many good and even great albums on this list.

None of you are superior because you think your "above" Rolling Stone, and saying it is a shell of its former self doesn't prove anything because its been said a million times in the past few years. There really is a lot of elitism here that I find annoying quite often.

What's wrong with that?

Don't get me wrong, I love my metal, and in my opinion the new Metallica is not good.

Also, I'm not even a huge My Morning Jacket fan, I'm just offended by the way you immediately associate a lifestyle with a type of music and thereby discredit that lifestyle.

Curse.

this list is pretty gay. for how big some metal is these days, there is a total lack of ANY of it on ALL of these lists. DECIBEL excluded. clearly they'll represent my interests

and no portishead on Rollingstone? fer real? then again, this magazine hasn't had someone on their cover who i could a crap about for about 10 years
