We'll see where this goes. The rhythm section of Wolfmother really was the concrete that held them together. I think without them a lot will be different...
I'm kinda curious to see how this turns out.

300k people? That's one hell of a first show for the new band members.
|
| |
300k will be attending the motor race. I doubt all will hang around for Wolfmother.
That said, WOOOOOOOOMAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
Yeah the rhythm section was really the only thing that did it for me...something about that singer doesn't suprise me that the other two took off.

As an australian, i have a few things to say...
1)these guys got a grammy, but I believe 'The Living End' are far more deserving of such an award.
2)This will be Australias equivalent to Guns n Roses
3) they had a lot going for them. first i hated them. then i listened and loved their album. now i have listened to it far too much and im tired of it. Having said that i reckon they have blown it. As with most 'hit' aussie bands you must be consistent to get longitivity. for example Jet were huge however they took ages to follow up and album and when they returned next to nobody cared (I did though :D )
i reckon if this Wolfmother phase 2 does not release something good soon, then they will become one of the many australian bands who are forgotton...

The one thing that bugs me about Wolfmother is that they don't have an Australian flavour or personality at all. They could be an American band for all I know.
|
| |
Eh. 300k people doesn't mean solely for Wolfmother. Clipsal is pretty boring tbh, I just don't get V8s.

"The one thing that bugs me about Wolfmother is that they don't have an Australian flavour or personality at all. They could be an American band for all I know."
I hear you.
whether it be Jet looking like they came straight outta the pub, Living Ends Ausssie stage banter most bands at least recognize their heritage.
|
| |
Nah, a band like Operator Please is currently the Australian standard.
|
| |
this makes me giggle like a school girl.
And I actually LIKE some Wolfmother.
|
| |
Doesn't cover up the fact that wolfmother sucks.
"The Apple Tree" is the song that will set me off onto a tri-state killing spree because it's so fucking annoying.
|
| |
I think The Living End are probably the best band to have come out of Australia, and I'm glad I got in before someone with around 20 comments said 'AC/DC are the best thing to happen to Australia ever!'. Never listened to Wolfmother, but I've heard of them many times, mostly with bad comments attached. Not sure whether I should check them out considering how much else is on my 'to buy' list, really.

Deep Sabbath...
|
| |
I liked their album but after a few listens it started to get kind of boring.
|
| |
I relatively enjoy a few songs by Wolfmother, I'm not a fan or anything and don't have their album but i don't see whats so bad about them, White Unicorn(is that the name?) is a good song.

"I think The Living End are probably the best band to have come out of Australia, "
thank god someone like you exists on this site!
they are the only Australian band that has had every album worth a purchase (Give or take Modern Artillery)
great live, down to earth guys, and its obvious the effort they put into each song.
|
| |
"Operator Please is the current Australian standard"...ew, no thanks.
And I was never a fan of these guys. Their riffs rocked hard, but that was it.
|
| |
I hate that one guys boofy hair (the vocalist, I think)
|
| |
Anyone else keen to hear some Doom Buggy? As everyone's already said, the rhythm section was the best part of Wolfmother.
|
| |
I listened to Woman, and it's pretty cool. Not much more, though.
Modern ARTillery is the only Living End album that even possibly deserves to be missed out on, to be honest, and even then it's still quite good. I might even consider giving their s/t a 5 one of these days... It'd be a push, but perhaps deserved.
|
| |
the band is pretty bad and the frontman is the ugliest person alive
|
| |
Pssshh, these guys are just a Zepplin tribute band, popular for camp-value off the back of The Darkness (remember them? no me neither) and the lead singer looks like carrot top, minus the steriods. Second album will bombbbbbbb! This Message Edited On 11.05.08
