Gojira update

2008-06-06 by BallsToTheWall | 15 Comments
French progressive extreme-metal band Gojira revealed that their forthcoming new album will be titled The Way of All Flesh and will be available on October 13 in Europe through Listenable Records and October 14 in North America via Prosthetic Records. The brothers Duplantier & Co. tracked the record in Los Angeles with producer and ex-Machine Head and Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader.

In a recent interview with Revolver, vocalist Joe Duplantier explained that the follow-up to 2005’s From Mars to Sirius is “more intense, more brutal, and more melodic at the same time.”

Now personally I like the band but I share the same issues with everyone else. Length. If they cut it down let's say 15 to 20 minuets than i'll be happy because Backbone is a crushing track.

I like some parts of songs but it becomes dull rather fast. They feel scattered somehow.

For some reason I never get bored with this band, backbone and flying whales own.

Seriously, these guys are very underrated around here. From Mars to Sirius was excellent. I don't see why length was a big deal for some people. I'm really looking forward to this album as well.

Am sort of interested in this, even if FMTS bored me quite a bit, will be interesting to see if they can raise their game.

awesome, this is gonna be so kick@$$. i friggin' love gojira.
only problem is that i really hate it when bands are like "OH, THE NEW ALBUM WILL BE MORE MATURE, MORE MELODIC, BUT MORE BRUTAL THAN EVER, AND IT'LL BE LIKE NOTHING WE'VE EVER DONE BEFORE".
hopefully, joe's statement is correct, but it'll be hard to get more brutal than how brutal gojira is already. but they could use more melody

Yeah, Backbone and Heaviest Matter are some of the most eardrum pounding songs I've ever heard. Mars to Sirius was really hit or miss for me, I LOVED half the tracks and HATED the other half, but I will definitely check this out.

Agreed - I saw them live and they were pretty damn good, and I've really been listening to them ever since.
Having to say I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to this.

Hopefully the new album will continue the progression they've made from album to album. I loved all of From Mars To Sirius, but The Link and Terra Incognita are both a bit hit-and-miss for me.
