By doing so, I want to raise attention for Jason’s cause; ultimately with the aim to raise donations for Jason with which his family can fund the 24/7 care he needs. This Charity is fully supported by the Becker family.
Jason Becker is known as one of the most gifted and talented guitar players in the history of music, as all world class guitarists unanimously will confirm. In 1991, while recording the “A little ain’t enough” record as the lead guitarist of the David Lee Roth Band at the age of 21, Jason was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease), and was given less than 3 years to live. Fortunately Jason is still around!
He eventually lost the ability to speak and now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father, Gary Becker. Although his ALS gradually robbed him of his ability to play guitar, to walk, and eventually even to speak, he still remains mentally sharp and, with the aid of a computer, continues composing. Now in his 30s, his medical condition has remained stable since 1997. Jason is 24/7 dependent from the care he gets from his family and friends; therefore financial support is very important to guarantee Jason gets the appropriate care.
We, Jason Becker fans, are obliged to pay back Jason for the fantastic music he created for us and which we still enjoy every day. Therefore the Charity announces the “time to payback Jason Becker!” campaign. The scope of the Jason Becker Charity is truly global and the mission is to unite as many Jason Becker fans as possible and to raise substantial funds for him.
In order to get global attention for the Jason Becker Charity we will concentrate our activities in the large relevant internet communities and social networks. We will build a huge fanbase to which we will offer activities like eg. a continuous rock memorabilia auction and the opportunity to participate in a Jason Becker Street team. Many big rockstars offered their support, like Steve Stevens, Kip Winger, Myles Kennedy and many others.
The Jason Becker Charity is looking for (free) publicity, both in online and offline media and has developed an interesting ‘sponsor package’, giving advertisers substantial exposure in a huge community in exchange for a relative small donation to the Jason Becker Charity.
