Cynic - New Album Tidbit

2008-03-04 by Trey STAFF | 20 Comments
Cynic founding members Paul Masvidal (guitars / vocals) and Sean Reinert (drums), who both gained reputation and praise while performing alongside Chuck Schuldiner and Death in the recording and touring lineup for the milestone album "Human", are currently in Sanford, Florida, working on the mix for three new demo tracks together with producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, Chimaira, The Black Dahlia Murder, Devildriver, etc.) at his own Audiohammer Studios. The three new tracks are entitled "Integral Birth", "Evolutionary Sleeper" and "Adam's Murmur", but Masvidal and Reinert have already written a full album's worth of new material and the band will use the demo to begin talks with record companies about a 2008 release.

More news on CYNIC's recording and touring plans will soon be announced, and a new website will soon be launched at www.cyniconline.com

Edit: The new website for them works now... if your phishing filter won't allow you to go to the site, it is because the link posted above redirects you to this link: http://fibbersmusic.ca/members/407/ which is the Cynic page. This Message Edited On 03.04.08

Nothing... Cynic, in reality, are a one album band whose hype and legend have built up considerably since they broke up... so, potentially they could flop and ruin their legacy, but due to their background playing with other bands (Death, Aghora, Gordion Knot, Portal) and the one album they have put out; fans choose to believe they won't flop.

I have Cynic on order right now! Altmer, its an album you would like based on your music tastes.

This can be a really bad or really good thing. He's a very hit and miss producer, even though some people will say he's all miss.

I've never heard a bad thing by these guys and the new song is awesome so I have no reason to doubt this release being (in my opinion) one of the best releases this year.

that was basically the exact same news that was posted a while back. and this producer Jason doesn't sound too promising. Come on, devildriver, trivium? I hope he doesn't fuck this up.

Jason Suecof is a beast rattlehead. I thought being as "elite" as you think you are you'd realize this. Dude can make anything sound at least decent, and given his roots are in Florida tech-death this is right up his alley.

I hope the new album is as good as Focus, but I really hope it don't turn out like Sean Reinhart's other band C-187, the technical Death Metal / Gangsta rap band...........uggghhhh.

True, but now there is a producer's name, a potential release date, and an official website that has been added to the other part of the news we already knew (I know this because I've posted both news articles here).

I'm excited. Focus was legendary, despite being way too experimental/indulgent all at once for its time. Here's hoping this new stuff turns out awesome.

lol stop acting like i go around thinking i'm elite. I just don't think a guy who did Trivium albums can get as great of a sound as I expect from Cynic. we shall see. This Message Edited On 03.05.08
