Thom Yorke album details 2006-05-24 by Iai EMERITUS | 17 Comments | Eyebrows were certainly raised when Radiohead's proposed 2006 album was pushed back to 2007 to make way for a Thom Yorke solo album. Was he pulling the band in directions that were just too weird for the other four? Was he succumbing to a determination to prove himself the star of the band? Or was an album's worth of material recorded that the band as a collective weren't happy with, and Yorke figured he could make a quick buck out of?
Selected journalists have been given a sneak peek at the album, and you'll be relieved to know that all the above looks like over-active imaginations at play. The Eraser, according to early reports, is not a million miles removed from the Radiohead showcased on Hail To The Theif, nor does Yorke suffer from being removed from his bandmates.
The album is a slim offering at 9 tracks, and is produced by the man they call the sixth Radiohead member, Nigel Godrich. Electronic flourishes still ground proceedings, but as Thom Yorke has stated, it is definintely song-based.
The tracklisting, which I refuse to type in Radiohead's adopted 'we dont use capital letters or any punctuation at all' speak, is as follows.
1. The Eraser
2. Analyse
3. The Clock
4. Black Swan
5. Skip Divided
6. Atoms For Peace
7. And It Rained All Night
8. Harrowdown Hill
9. Cymbal Rush

It's not exactly new Radiohead, but I'm pretty damn excited.
| | | The day this comes out, I have a feeling CD stores across the world will do great business. And if it sucks .. well, CD stores will do great business the next day when people bring back their copies.
I'm hoping it doesn't suck, though ...
| | | What if this means the end of Radiohead?
ugh i feel queasy.
| | | pfff Radiohead won't end, they didn't stop after making shit like Pablo Honey, so they won't stop now.
| | | Radiohead is imortal.

| | | Pablo honey was quite mediocre to be honest. This will definately be different to Radiohead, I'm looking forward to it.
| | | radiohead are overated, they are as boring as hell, but still good musicians. Will be good to see if Thorn can produce the same quality without the band
| | | there there = BORING !!!!
karma police all the way
| | | Nirvana all the way !!
| | | Nirvana is about half as good as Radiohead. And There There is twice as good as Karma Police.
| | | Definitely not, sonny.
| | | In regards to the Karma Police thing. I agree with the Radiohead x2 Nirvana deal.
| | | there there > karma police
| | | I think both Nirvana and Radiohead are equally good.
And I like Karma Police better.
| | | Whoaaa... Seriously can't wait for this to come out so i can check it out. I think he's a musical genius.
