Monolord Return

2026-04-06 by bananatossing | 7 Comments
Doom metal/stoner rock act Monolord returned with a new single called "You Bastard", from their upcoming album Neverending.

According to the band, their 6th studio album is a culmination of all of their previous work. It will be riff heavy but a little bit more structured and polished. This time they recruited Sylvia Massy, known for her work with Tool and System of a Down, to help bring shape to several demos and ideas. They recorded 11 songs in total, 8 which will be included in the new album.

I know sput isn't really big on doom/stoner but man we have new Kal-El (please check out Astral Voyager, Volume II) and now we're getting new Elder, new All Them Witches and now new Monolord. How better can it get?

Not big on Stoner (love Doom though) but haven't heard Kal-El or All them Witches so I'll check them out.

@Motiv3 Nice! Start with Nothing As the Ideal or Lightning at the Door, which are their most metal oriented releases, and it seems the new album is heading into that direction as well. Dying Surfer ventures more into their folk aspects. Also check out the Baker's Dozen singles, there's one in particular that is very doom influenced "Silver to Rust".

With Kal-El start with any of their records starting Astrodoomeda. They all sound pretty similar from there but it's the bass tone and very low tuned guitars that does it for me.

Nice groove.
I remember being obsessed with Empress Rising (the track) but couldn't really get into their other stuff

They have plenty of bangers."We Will Burn", "Where Death Meets The Sea" and "Larvae" make me want to destroy cities.

But its cool to see them going for a slightly more accessible and refined sound for this one. Cant wait to hear the rest of the album.
