it's not the people's fault that the record companies can't keep their records to themselves.

omfg :s oink was like the best ever... does this mean trouble for the users like us?
|
| |
I've always wondered why record companies have had a hard time not leaking music.
What's so damn hard about it?
|
| |
fuck oink and its members in their stupid asses for downloading pre-release music. if the music is that good, isn't it worth the money anyway? This Message Edited On 10.23.07

ugh. in any case
|

To Rattlehead:
No. If people like my music I'm more than glad to give them a free copy. I know many people in bands who don't care. Its music for everyone to listen to and sing along to at shows.
And regarding smaller accounts. They wont be investigating small accounts or any account really for that matter. Their main sight is on the mega god like oink users. The mods practically. They will go for them in an effort to prevent similar sites to pop up. So if you donated, that was pretty stupid but they probably won't make the case.
|
| |
Noooooooooooo!
They'll only go after users that uploaded like 5TB. Rattle, you're an idiot by the way. You basically proved yourself wrong, I mean, if the music's good isn't it worth your money anyways?
|

teh holocost?!

"teh holocost?!"; seems worse

I'll remember that exact moment when I read that last night for the rest of my life. It's like when Kennedy was shot or humans landed on the moon, man.
Maybe i'm exaggerating but OiNK was amazing for two reasons, extremely rare, hard to get music you would have to pay an absolute mint to find in most places, and that it was a crippling blow and wake-up call to an industry that needs a complete overhaul because it is a corrupt, slimy cesspool of shit. Fuck you, your velvet bags of cocaine and thousands of dollars of unnecessary luxury whilst you attempt to herd the common demographics of people into your pathetic markets to keep you're cock being sucked, Mr Music Industry.
If you shut down the music fans online you shut down music and people will backlash. As long as you have a market with people sucked in to the hyperreality of your soulless marketing & advertising practices it's sadly not going to make a lick of difference. I'd rather go without then succumb to that.

considering it will cost MILLIONS of dollars to prosecute people that are honestly all over the globe 50% in the US, others divided across the globe it will seem meaningless to do so. And how does a bust in Amsterdam have the jurisdiction to prosecute us in the states or any other country? Not to mention the fact that the propaganda they are selling that we paid to enter the site to get music...what a load of shit; donations were YOUR CHOICE and were used to pay the server/website costs...honestly if thats their case stating that it's a criminal organization and was funded by users who paid their way in -- they don't have a case then.
|
| |
they'll have a case until proven otherwise cuz you know....in america the court slogan is "guilty until proven innocent"
|

if the music's good isn't it worth your money anyways?
that's what i said. can you read?
and you call me an idiot.

a little angsty today aren't we? search.blogger.com you can find pretty rare stuff there. i download pretty much only rare stuff from there and then buy back or get from the libary the stuff that is commercially available. This Message Edited On 10.23.07

*cries* this just broke my day.
|
| |
and you call me an idiot.
Because you are one. You said that Oink users were idiots for downloading music before buying it, but then contradicted yourself by saying that it's worth your money if it's good.
Therefore downloading music before buying it is irrelevant if it is in fact worth your money.
Therefore you're still an idiot.

this is terrible news...

Ironically, the music industry is finally starting to see that even with this kind of successful raids, they're still way behind on the game. Radiohead's latest release plays a major part in this, as well as extremely disappointing results for paid downloads.
I just read in a magazine a few days ago that the Dutch branch of Universal is negotiating intensively with the Netherlands' leading concert organization Mojo. The article went on to say that basically all record companies are at a point where they have to make drastic changes in order to stay in business.
Hopefully, this means that they will focus on making CDs more appealing than a folder of mp3s, even if they do cost money.
|

albumbase sucks
|

what rattlehead is trying to tell us is that we have broken the codex of honour and are false prophets and should be treated accordingly.
i hope he doesn't se ghaal on us on.

"I've always wondered why record companies have had a hard time not leaking music.

its pretty much impossible to stop.
The labels employ low-level workers who happen to be music fans and can't wait to share a band's new album with their friends. If the album manages to not leak directly from the label, it is guaranteed to leak once it heads off to manufacturing. Someone at the manufacturing plant is always happy to sneak off with a copy, and before long, it turns up online. This Message Edited On 10.26.07This Message Edited On 10.26.07
