It's fine. I'll probably check it when the album drops but this feels like it coulda been a Gorillaz track.

This is scratching the Damon Albarn itch that new Gorrilaz is unable to.

woo hoo

Bit drab innit.
Nice surprise though.
|

chewsday innit

Reminds me of Oil off Gorillaz latest album a bit. I'm pumped though! Love me a bit of Blur.
|
| |
Good song, looking forward to full album
|
| |
fuck yeah, magic whip ruled so have good faith this will be up to their usual high standard
|
| |
Just watched that Nardwuar interview yesterday so I’m mad at them again.

When did Blur stop being good because I literally can’t tell? Asking for clarification here
they’re probably still better than Oasis ever were tho tbf
|
| |
album cover makes me worried its gonna be dire 90s britpop nostalgia, which is a shame cause The Magic Whip is one of my favs
|
| |
Yeah that album art is so drab, but distinctively Blur at least. Looks like a culmination of Leisure, Modern Life and The Great Escape so definitely will be a throwback to their early times.
|
| |
Course it won’t.
|
| |
This is nice.

I didn't even know these guys were still making albums. I would've expected Albarn to drop them like a fly at this point considering Gorillaz's popularity
|
| |
I mean he basically did for a good decade there. but then the 4 of them had a nice little trip to Hong Kong, Magic Whip happened, and now I guess they're just in a new "fuck it, let's do another one!" era
i'm all for it, single's solid though I agree it does blend with the Cracker Island stuff a little too easily. back in the earliest G days, the blur/Gorillaz crossover (Think Tank essentially sounded like Gz s/t part 2) was appealing since the boundaries (if there even were any) were so broad and Damon was just kinda killing it with almost everything he tried.
these days it relies so heavily on that straight-up disco thing, I hope they actually do veer toward the older blur (MLIR, Parklife, etc) sound, if only to further differentiate from the new Gorillaz
|
| |
nice song
|
| |
Blur nowadays is just a "3 lefty middle aged mates and their tory boy cheese making bassist having a laugh when they feel like it" rather than a full time project. Damon has Gorillaz, Graham has his solo work, Dave is involved with local politics and Alex makes cheese with his toff friends in the Chipping Norton set.

sounds like a match made in heaven to me!

Really liking this! Never really payed attention to Blur but thanks to the new song I started listening to their other records.
|
| |
^Get on Modern Life is Rubbish, Parklife and Think Tank. Great albums!
|
| |
get on all of them
saving Leisure & Whip for last, maybe
|
| |
Been on a binge actually since this came out, only things I haven’t heard are the debut and the S/T. Never thought I would like this band, but damn it’s fun!
|
| |
Only got into these a few years back myself, so much to dive into. Even Leisure (which is arguably their worst) has one of the best songs I've ever heard (Sing, it's Godly)
|
| |
Second new track is ace. Two out of two and hopes have been raised.
|
| |
I don’t care what anyone says, im obsessed with this song
|
| |
Stunning song, shocked at how good this comeback is.
