AWS guitarist calls it quits 2007-09-28 by CushMG15 | 15 Comments | Guitarist for the Punk outfit A Wilhelm Scream has decided to call it quits. As stated in a post on the bands website, he just cannot handle the grind of non-stop touring. "Mike from Alucard" will be filling in for their upcoming tour, however Chris will be playing the New Bedford show Oct. 6th and the Cd Release show on Oct. 20th. His final show with the band will take place in their hometown of New Bedford sometime in November.

So there has been a rumor floating around the old internerd the past few days; we've received some concerned emails, and there have also been some MySpace comments posted about me (Chris) leaving the band. We didn't want to detract from the positive news surrounding the release of Career Suicide, but instead of letting you little gossip mongers spread around what you may or may not have heard, this is our official statement on the subject. I have decided that my time with A Wilhelm Scream is over. I started playing music 18 years ago. At that time my only reason for doing it was because it was fun. I have maintained for the duration of my time in Smackin' Isaiah/A Wilhelm Scream that when it stopped being fun, I would give it up. The bottom line here is that I just don't enjoy the day-in, day-out grind of being on tour anymore. Our touring schedule, as most of you know, is fucking ridiculous and I just can't continue doing it. There are no personal or creative differences between any of us. None of that bullshit. I still love this band and everything it stands for. The six years that I've spent in SI/AWS have been the best of my life. We've accomplished more than I ever expected, and I take with me with more amazing memories than most people experience in a lifetime. I want to thank Trevor, Nuno, Nick, Jon, and Brian (but not Curtiss) for being the best bandmates, and best friends I could have ever asked to live in a van with. And for understanding why I have to leave. My only real regret is that I won't get to see all of our close friends situated inconveniently around the world as often as I'd like (You know who you are). So now that the bad news is over, it's time for some good news. You might be asking yourself "What about the Only Crime/Swellers tour?" Well I'm glad you asked. Filling in for me on the upcoming tour will be our friend Mike from the band Alucard. You locals may have seen them at the Fairhaven VFW a few months back with the Swellers. Homeboy shreds like a motherfucker, and I'm sure he won't have a problem tearing your faces off. I will, however, be playing the New Bedford show on Oct. 6th, the CD release show in Providence on the 20th, and my final show will be in New Bedford sometime in November. After which, the search for a permanent replacement will begin. "

But not Curtiss. BURN!This Message Edited On 09.28.07
| | | It's a Bummer that Chris is leaving cause he's such a tight player. Well, he brought a lot to the band, and he was a nice dude.
But seriously, Mike from alucard is a F#$%ing BEAST though, they don't even need to look for a replacement if they have him.
Well, actually I hope they find someone who melds with them 100%.
And Cush, you totally beat me, I was just about ready to post this!
| | | WTF the new album is awesome too...
| | | Yeah man, I hardly ever check band websites but I randomly checked theirs and BOOM, there it was.
Its funny, because all I can think when listening to the new disc (Or any of them for that matter) is "How the fuck did they get so tight." I really hope that they find somebody that works.
I'm pretty sure that Trevor writes most everything, so I'm thinking that they'll be just fine
| | | Mike is amazing, so they will be fine.
| | | Yeah...but Mike probably isn't going to be the permanent replacement. Touring will be fine, but what about the next record?
| | | We can worry about the next record next year at the earliest.
| | | curtiss was their old bassist right? i take it he didn't leave on good terms then?
| | | Yeah, I think he was their second bassist and he only toured with them for a short while and just kind of up and left on night. Just packed his shit and hit the road without saying anything. Apparently they weren't happy.
| | | Whoever the new bassist/current bassist is... hes damn awesome on the new album.
| | | I could tell this was coming a while ago. I've heard he was pretty cranky about being on the road all the time.
| | | Fitting end for him, Career Suicide is definitely his record. The guitar work is f*cking nuts, although the bassist really really owns on this one.
| | | Whole record is badass, through and through
| | | Chris does Rhythm though, Trevor lead, so it's not really his record. Brian steals the show above all of them, but Nick is also really improved.
| | | Amazing band. Love everything they've released. New album rips. Kind of sloppy live though.
