Unfortunately it's kinda run of the mill for them. Sounds like something that would have been on Blood Year.

@RougueNine I think that's the problem with Russian Circles' music, it can be quite samey.

They are great musicians and I like their music, however, sometimes I have to be in the right mindset to appreciate it in its fullest.

I generally love these guys but haven't really liked them since memorial

A darker and heavier tune than most of theirs. Love it.

I dig, but yeah they’ve definitely become less creative over time it seems. Still looking forward to the new album though

They should introduce a vocalist to this band.

I feel that way with practically all purely instrumental bands. The vocals just hook you in on many other groups and will stick with you. That being said, this was a pretty great track even if it's pretty much by the numbers RC at this point.

I've gone cold on RC for a good while, but this was pretty sick tbh. Nice track.

RC are incredibly consistent. I think it's been a while since they've truly sounded inspired, but you can always count on a good album from them. It's usually around the same quality and your reaction to it, at least in my case, is based more on what mood you are in than the quality being in dispute. Not really loving this song on first blush, but I've felt similarly for most of their lead singles and usually end up digging. Looking forward to this

Never been able to get into any instrumental post rock stuff, it always bored me to tears. This is equally boring because it never goes anywhere despite being heavier. It doesn't even have that rising emotional crescendo that has always been the main trope of the genre.

@DadKungFu nah, Even though Dave keeps on posting Botch covers to his IG account, that will NEVER happen.

Pretty sure they have used that first riff before.

“It doesn't even have that rising emotional crescendo that has always been the main trope of the genre.”

Yes and that’s a good thing.

I feel like there’s the framework of a good track here but I’d honestly prefer them to start throwing more at the wall at this point. Their bridges used to take the music in a different direction but these days it’s just minor tinkering with the main riff.

No need to introduce a voalist at this point in their careers, I just wished they experimented more woth their sound, it seems that they have grown accustomed to their signature Russian Circles' sound.

Solid. Peeps here hated Blood Year but I loved it and this sounds more similar to that then anything else in their catalog so I'm pretty stoked.

ive never listened to this band but when i put it on, i was bored as fuck. it literally sounds like an instrumental version of a song that had vocals first and was later released.

Good song. Exactly what I like to hear from Russian Circles. It gives me hope for the album.

Similar to Quartered from Blood Year, which was already the best song of the record.

It truly is quite simplistic of a song.
