Meh

who?

Meh [2]. Sounds straight outta 1990 but not in a good way
|
| |
That was impressively boring for such a group of luminaries
|
| |
Yeah, I'm a little astounded at how dull this is, given the great lineup
|
| |
Interesting, in principle.
|
| |
This sounds like the kind of band I would have been into back when grunge was literally all I listened to. I'm mostly shocked at how flat and boring the guitar work is given Kim Thayil's riffs with Soundgarden.
|
| |
I dig it
|
| |
what a snoozefest
|
| |
Thayil's involvement piqued my interest a bit but yeah this is nothing special, I can already find music like this on literally any goodwill CD rack
|
| |
I don't think it's that bad, not amazing though. Could use a bit more variation/layering/something but the initial idea is solid
The other thing that strikes me, besides what you guys mentioned about Thayil being unusually restrained, is that I'm not sure these are the vocals I want for this kind of band. These ladies seem like good vocalists in their own right but if you tell me "grunge supergroup" I'm definitely thinking staley or cobain-style vocals in my head as ideal, not a softer female voice. Will have to hear the rest of the songs, maybe they will change my mind

grunge luminaries record a led zeppelin b side
|
| |
Cool but sounds like an album track not a single…if indeed this was meant to be a single
|
| |
@iambandersnatch
I'm thinking Mia Zapata-style vocals. Gonna have to give this a listen.

temple of the slog

Thayil was the best guitarist in all of that grunge scene back in the day by a fucking lot. Even though Soundgarden was not really Grunge, imo. Thayil had way more interesting guitar riffs and solos than all the other bands then.

The band didn't release any singles. I just linked the song on the album I liked the most.

| |
I like the main riff, song is too long, wish it had ended the first time

yes, Yes, YES!
|
| |
This project should have been better left shelved forever or not made in the first place. No thank you.
|
| |
I get as excited as the next guy when I hear the words "grunge supergroup"
but
this band needs two things
a rhythm guitarist so Kim is free to let loose and jam
any singer in the world that is less monotone than this lady
