TWIABP's "Queen Sophie" single

2021-09-01 by MonotoneCulprit | 11 Comments
The World Is... have released a second single, "Queen Sophie for President", that somehow manages to make the overall direction of their forthcoming record Illusory Walls even muddier.

The album is slated for an October 8th release date.

According to the complementing press release, the band's downtime during quarantine meant extra recovery for Katie Dvorak (vocals/synth) after sustaining an injury affecting her ability to sing or speak at the tail-end of 2020. The release goes on to say that, "Had they been on a normal recording schedule, she wouldn't have been able to get her vocals done. Instead, she was able to channel what happened into her songs. Though 'Queen Sophie For President' is ostensibly about the tenacity of oppression, whether on a personal or political level, it is heavily influenced by her injury."

interesting to hear her take the lead on this. first impression was that her voice fits better as backing, but that could just be because of what we're used to with them. the spazzy/mathy section towards the end is pretty sick

Digging this track. Definitely excited for the album (and for their upcoming tour!)

Track is cool, expecting it to slot in nicely within the album.

Early thoughts on the album from various writers have been very positive. Apparently there is a 15 minute track and a 20 minute track mixed in. Album is going to slam. Ready to die at their home state show.

I think this will be their strongest release yet.

so hype especially since the last album felt like a slight misstep (second half is super strong though)

@Feather Ian Cohen, a freelance writer for music sites, has an early copy and has posted about it. His info is more or less confirmed by TWIABP retweeting his descriptions of the album. See below:

^ thanks for sharing

@momentzuhclarity I was thinking the same thing. This new track sounds like what I wish Tiger Jaw grew up to sound like. Really digging it.
