TRP Seeking Session Musicians

2007-09-07 by Jom | 3 Comments
Aussie art-rockers The Red Paintings are still working on The Revolution is Never Coming, their first LP. Previously, the band asked fans for donations to record the album ("a minimum of $40, with a goal of $40,000"). While the status of this hasn't been updated since July 24th, 2007, which saw the band post:

$4,390 raised so far! 36 thousand to go!

Needless to say, the goal hasn't exactly come close.

However, they seem to be an optimistic bunch, and are now asking for any and all musicians to try their hand (or foot) at being a session musician for their record:

Calling music players

We are on the look out for people who may play any kind of instrument with at least some skill to join us in the studio and make an imprint on the new album, "The Revolution Is Never Coming."

Harp players, flutes, Chinese instruments, accordion, brass; the list goes on, anything you may have invented or believe is a unique sound in itself that you would like to share with us, we would love to have you create on some of the albums tracks.

As well as this, we are looking for string players to join our orchestra on October 14, and we are also on the lookout for singers, both boys and girls, to join our choir.

It would help if you could sing in pitch.

This also gives a good chance to those who have donated to the make the album possible, be able to be a part of the creative process.

If you think this is you and you may have something musical to share with us, and would like to be a part something fun then please email management(at)theredpaintings.com with a quick blurb on what instrument you play and how long you have played it. We will send you details on location and times.

At this stage we will be holding two recording days in October to record those that are successful in Brisbane, Australia.

Hope to see you soon

wow... I've seen plenty of bands giving demos away for "ideally 3-5 bucks, but you can grab one if you can't afford to give us any cash"... but asking straight up for donations....?

They're trying to pay for recording without having to sign to a contract or anything of the sort.

And in return for the donation you get a signed copy with your name in the thank you notes.
