Memphis May Fire heavy return

2021-06-05 by BillClinton | 35 Comments
Dallas-based Metalcore band Memphis May Fire have dropped their new single "Blood & Water" with an accompanying music video. Their first new music in three years, the single marks a notable return to their heavier roots, something the band teased over the past few months.

In a statement, frontman Matty Mullins said: “With everything that's happened in the last year, it feels surreal to be releasing new music. Creating during the pandemic comes with many challenges. But looking back, I think we needed that time off the road to fall in love with writing songs again. 'Blood & Water' is just a taste of what's to come and we couldn't be more excited for the world to finally hear what we have.”

The band also revealed that 100% of the proceeds from one of their new merch items related to this single will go to Bridges DVC, an organization that helps women victims of domestic violence. The new merch items can be found on their official store at:

Almost couldn’t tell it was them what with all that polish on the mixing. Solid “meh” material though; yes, it sounds better than the direction they were going in on the last two albums, but it’s still generic in sound and structure. Decent uncleans, basic lyricism, tonal whiplash with the chorus which kinda ruins the flow, even hurt a solid breakdown with the bridge back into the chorus. yeah, this album is prolly gonna be a solid 2.5~3 when it drops.

It's an okay track but it's so generic. As usual the vocals are pretty great but the lyrics are so fucking bland.

It's as safe as it gets regarding the genre/writing, but the chorus is quite catchy nonetheless.

I do like the chorus. As everyone has noted, it's extremely a generic track, but at least it sounds like they're actually trying, there's some energy. I enjoy it, in a really basic kind of way.
