Perfume P-Cubed single 2019-07-07 by fluid in its most purist form. always drenched in an undeniable regal divinity. | 2 Comments | Japanese electro-pop trio Perfume have released a promotional single Nananananairo in support of their upcoming Best Of album P Cubed (out September 18th). This will be their third compilation release and, with a 52-song tracklist, will likely stand as a definitive career statement in advance of their performance at the opening ceremony for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The future is Perfume beyond the Olympics has yet to be clarified but many fans have speculated that the ambitious retrospective of P-Cubed in conjunction with the prestige of the Olympics would mark a suitably high note for Perfume to conclude their career. The group have been active since the early 2000s and have release an album every 1-3 years since 2008; there are currently no known plans for a follow-up to last year's Future Pop.
The single is streaming in full on Spotify, but you can watch the promotional video filmed in Taiwan here:

The song seemed okay from the preview video. Fairly in line with their more recent output. I'd be sad to see them go, but I'd rather they end on a high note and at least I'll have gotten to see them before they ended.
| | | Yeah unless they come back with something on par with their first four, it'd probably be a smart move to pack it in next year - who knows, though...
I'd like this song a lot more if it didn't sound like a worse version of the new Kyary
