Monuments vocalist departs

2019-07-03 by cloakanddagger | 23 Comments
Progressive metallers Monuments have announced on their official Facebook page that vocalist Chris Barretto has left the band for personal reasons.

Chris is the longest-serving vocalist the band has had thus far, being a member of the band since 2013 and contributing to two full length records, The Amanuensis in 2014 and last year's follow-up, Phronesis.

No official replacement has been announced, but Makari vocalist Andy Cizek has been confirmed as the stand-in singer for all the band's upcoming shows.

Never cared for him. If they got the vocalist they had on Gnosis back, that would be fantastic.

The band should probably just call it a day tbh

Their vocalist on Gnosis was not that good man. Sorry.

Didn't even realize that Barretto wasn't the guy on Amanuensis. This makes this dude look even more mediocre.

Their newest album was basically a 2.5, nothing offensive but nothing that stood out either. The album before it had some great moments, but overall I think the band is a little stale at this point. Injecting some new life into it might be a good thing!

Yeah Chris owns even if their last album was a snoozefest.

Matt was absolutely awful live and his lyrics on Gnosis were pretty laughable. He is also a complete douche fuck so I doubt they'd want him to come back.

Shame to hear that he left the band, saw them as an opening act for Devin Townsend years ago. Me and my friends bumped into Chris at the end of the show and he seemed like a really laid back and nice guy.

It's funny because I've heard rumors that Chris is a huge douche who's hard to work with and unreliable. There's a reason he can't seem to stick in any project for too long before "personal reasons" remove him haha. Also Chris' lyrics were pretty cringey too.

Chris is a good singer but honestly I did prefer the vocals on Gnosis.

He should just join Tesseract and stick to playing sax there, maybe doing vocals. That's never gonna happen though

He’s apparently a diva and very difficult to work with according to multiple people I know personally who have but he’s also a very humble and nice dude to anyone who gives him the time of day so I have nothing but love for the guy

At this point I think it's the band...how can you lose so many vocalists like wtf. John, Neema, Matt, Chris...and the dark figure is high.

This band brings the riffs though, so I'd be down for some instrumental-only albums.
