Songs pretty cool, but this seems like a step back from Dream Walker, as if it was written/recorded between Love pt II and that album
|
| |
Holy crap, thought these guys were long DOA.
|
| |
Ill definitely be catching the LA show. Never seen these guys live.
|
| |
I've always been a fan of Ava.
|
| |
Good song, however like everyone I wish Tom was back in Blink
|
| |
really hoped this was gonna be a lot better. still probably better than the new blink is gonna be
|
| |
Blink without Tom will always be bad
|
| |
WHERE ARE YOU AND IM SO SORRY
|
| |
New song is pretty good. Nothing groundbreaking, but still enjoyable and definitely miles better than anything Mark Hoppus has been involved in for the past few years. I low key want to see them on the upcoming tour but I know Tom sounds like shit live, although maybe he’s improved his voice over the last seven years?
|
| |
I CANNOT SLEEP TONIIIIIIIGHT
|
| |
He’s certainly had a good chunk of time to rest his voice. Really hoping we get a new album and it’s like The Dream Walker, quality wise.
|
| |
this lineup of blink totally could’ve been good ngl matt skiba is a way better singer songwriter and lyricist than tom it’s just fucking hell mark had dropped the ball hard lately plus feldmans garbage production really doesn’t help
like california blows, but not because it doesn’t have tom
|
| |
also lmao they’re on rise records
|
| |
I’m one of the few who doesn’t think California blows. It def had some bad songs but it was fun overall. That said, it does feel incredibly safe and phoned in. It’s probably a 3 for me. I did like the deluxe more. Love 6/8 and Bottom of the Ocean. Crazy they left prob the best two songs off the album. The deluxe is prob about a 3.5 for me.
|
| |
Intro sounds like some cheesy corporate slide show/motivational video soundtrack
|
| |
I honestly feel bad for Travis and Mark. They wanted blink to continue to trailblaze and pump out music and Tom simply wasn't interested at all anymore. I don't mind Caifornia, but I think they left a lot on the table during their hiatus years and then waiting for Tom to want to record, and at their age I don't really think they have much left in the tank in terms of compelling music. Hard to be nearing 50 and writing tunes for teens, especially when they wasted many younger years when they could have been doing that and excelling at it.
|
| |
Should've kept the Neighborhoods route instead of making California, Tom knew better.
Song is really good btw, The Dream Walker was a great record, so I'm excited about this new album.
|
| |
"The band has signed with Rise Records"
oh fuck no. this means they're dead.
|
| |
HELLOO
HERE I AMM
|
| |
Been a fan since the start, somebody fill me in: What’s wrong with Rise Records?
|
| |
Love the song, need to catch them in Cleveland
|
| |
"Been a fan since the start, somebody fill me in: What’s wrong with Rise Records?"
super scenecore label i dont necessarily have a problem w em its just a bizarre fit for ava
|
| |
“oh fuck no. this means they're dead.“
says the cuck who thinks get scared is daddy
|
| |
Glad to hear AVA is back. I've never seen them so checking them out at the Seattle show would be awesome. I miss the I-Empire arena rock tunes, but this new song is solid too.
|
| |
"says the cuck who thinks get scared is daddy"
unironically using cuck in 2019
|
| |
no but seriously it's mad random that they're on rise now
don't even know what they're would do with ava being on their label tbh
|
| |
its because outside of a select few bands (e.g. Of Mice & Men, Dance Gavin Dance) their entire roster is tanking and the executives think only Tom DeLonge can save them
|
| |
DeLonge describes the song as "a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music"
but he's been using this same description for A&A material since their inceptions, so......
|
| |
how do people think California is all bad and enjoy this cheesy 80s synth plug-in nightmare of a song with some of the worst lyrics of all time
Ilan's drums are the only saving grace of this thing
|
| |
this might be the worst thing I've ever heard
|
| |
yea this lyrically somehow beats out almost every tom song for the worst lyrics ever, behind maybe some origins of fire which is loooooooooooooooow
|
| |
rise isn't even that bad anymore and there's certainly more than a few bands on their roster that are better than get scared lmao
|
| |
"I've always been a fan of Ava."
Yeah me too. Song is solid.
"...however like everyone I wish Tom was back in Blink"
Nah Blink are done.
|
| |
I'm fine with what we have. as opposed to Tom rejoining Blink, delaying their albums by like three years because he's an unreliable flake, and then fucking over the album anyway by insisting it'll sound better if they all record separately and email the music to each other. yeah gimme Skiba any day lol
|
| |
Used to listen to this quite a lot back in the day, fallen off the radar completely for me though. Saw them live once, was pretty good. Feels like a good time to revisit their earlier stuff.
|
| |
Not as good as The Dream Walker or Chasing Shadows, but still a really enjoyable song
|
| |
"this might be the worst thing I've ever heard"
Haven't heard a whole lotta music in your lifetime, eh man?
|
| |
Ava are brilliant! When they are on form I think they are untouchable. This is great news.
|
| |
I enjoy AVA quite a bit, but this song is a complete let-down, especially after Chasing Shadows.
|
| |
Dude is a total nutjob
|
| |
What the fuck, I can't go to the Cleveland show because the venue will only sell tickets to Cleveland residents. It's the only one in the state but I live near Columbus. Fuck this.
And the other nearby venues are restricted too. Oh well. WELL, I guess I live close enough to be eligible to buy DETROIT tickets even though it's an hour further of a drive than Cleveland.
|
| |
I mean yeah tom is a total headcase who has a really annoying fixation with space and his wife but at least he’s not 47 and still singing about going out on a Friday night with the bros or some other shit that 14 y/os would eat up in 2001
|
| |
Tru
|
| |
How do you prove you're a Cleveland resident?
|
| |
send tom yr social security
|
| |
This song is astonishingly bad
|
| |
This song is astonishingly catchy
|
| |
“How do you prove you're a Cleveland resident?”
Billing address

"I mean yeah tom is a total headcase who has a really annoying fixation with space and his wife but at least he’s not 47 and still singing about going out on a Friday night with the bros or some other shit that 14 y/os would eat up in 2001"
yeah much prefer "Do you want to go back to where we started
Back before we were broken hearted
Come my way, come-come
I gotta tell ya
The shoe fits
My little Cinderella" lol
|
| |
no denying those lyrics are horrendous, but im not entirely sure theyre that much worse than a good chunk of california
also jesus fuck the synth in this song is awful
|
| |
yeah this song is an absolute throwaway
sounds like a love pt. 2 b-side
|
| |
nah LP2 was actually good
|
| |
