At least "Marquee Moon" is there.
|
| |
This appear to be very similar to just about all other magazines lists. IE #1 ;)
|
| |
This list is hilarious! The only worthy solos on this list are Pink Floyd, Queen, and Jimi Hendrix. The others are mediocre at best IMO.
|
| |
Guitar Solo's suck.
|
| |
as big of a hendrix fan as i am, i have to say theres no comparison between the stairway to heaven solo and the purple haze solo. its about the only solo page ever did that could come close to touching anything hendrix did.
|
| |

123.
list needs Opeth
|
| |
No Lynyrd Skynyrd? Nice try wiseguys.
|
| |
Maggot Brain?
|
| |
05. Michael Jackson with guest appearance by Eddie Van Halen - "Beat It"
Hahahahahaha.
Eddie Van Halen solos are so atrociously bad, especially that one.
|
| |
Hasn't this list already been made about 100 times over?
|
| |
This list is a joke. The solo to Ball and a Biscuit is absolute and complete talentless shit. Jack white uses some shitty high pitched noises using the same blues lick over and over. It has no feeling.
|
| |
And I agree with Cocaine. Van Halen's solos suck balls. Eruption's tapping riff was of course legendary. and one other harmonic minor riff in that song. other than that, most of them are pretty boring.
|
| |
this is bullshit for the most part
|
| |
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...(OH NO I CAN'T STOP)...LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...(AAARRRHHGG)...LOLOLOLOLOL...lol.
|
| |
God these lists are so fucking stupid.
|
| |
radiohead? muse? white stripes? MICHAEL FUCKING JACKSON?
|
| |
lawl at the list.
#1 is as predictable as ever.
|
| |
Maybe this is a joke...?
|
| |
Bullshit! Where's Megadeth :P
|
| |
Megadeth would make this list even more laughable.
|
| |
wher r t3h trivium??????
|
| |
This list is rediculously bad
|
| |
Uh, wheres the guitar solo in Knights of Cydonia? As epic and awesome as the song is, it doesn't have what i'd class as an awesome guitar solo, not even live... where Matt actually plays what could be considered a solo.
Also, as far as Radiohead goes, theres better guitar solos than The Bends. Surely Paranoid Android could realistically qualify for a list like this.
|
| |
I hate lists that rate things "best of".
Oh, and there's no Opeth on this list.
|
| |
Muse!!
|
| |
Pink Floyd may be predictable, but at least it's one I could buy. This list lacks Savatage, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Rush.
|
| |
not even close.
|
| |
Welcome Home should be on here, but this list is pretty crappy anyways. As much as I love Knights of Cydonia, the guitar solo isn't that good.
|
| |
Come on guys you left out Slayer
|
| |
By the way this is a pretty bad list. Id agree with a few, maybe Steely Dan and Queen... and I feel Page has better solos.
|
| |
bulls on parade?? that seems REALLY out of place. i like the song but the solo is pretty stupid. just like all his solos.
|
| |
It's not Bulls on Parade, it's Bullet in the Head.
But yeah, list sucks.
|
| |
iarescientists,
Not having Opeth on this list just made it that much worse!
|
| |
Woah, Love Spread's is number 4? They obvoublisly havnt heard any other of Squire's work...but I don't know if it's top 5 worthy.
Am guessing this is a joke.
|
| |
yeah Q magazine is known for publishing joke lists it's their thing they're sort of like mad or cracked or something.
|
| |
So glad about number 1. My favorite solo ever.
|
| |
list needs Daitro
DAITRO ROOL
Wow, you are such a tool.
|
| |
Needs some more good solo's... like 19 or something
|
| |
O-FOCKING-PETH!
Opeth>>>most of this horrible list, a three year old could make something more diverse.
|
| |
Looks like a list of songs that have guitar solos to me.
|
| |
these lists always suck.
if the classic rock elitists get their way then people complain that the list is too generic.
if the classic rock elitists don't get their way, the bitch about how the legendary solos didnt make the cut.
as if it really affects their lives.
and besides, solos now are just as good. there are players now, in the same styles, who could give any of these artists a run for their money. it's always gonna be the same 12 notes.
|
| |
hmm... knights of cydonia solo...? don't really remember it altho i like the song.
and where teh DragonForce?!?!
and yes, SOME OPETH!!!!
anywayz who actually takes these lists seriously?
|
| |
Holy fucking shit. Whatever group of fools who put this list together need to go kill themselves right now.
|
| |
lol
|
| |
Does Knights of Cydonia even have a solo?
Oh well I didn't expect any better.
|
| |
Some guy on the comments section of the site suggested Talk Dirty To Me.
|
| |
The first solo on Meshuggah's I is my favorite ever.
|
| |
^ Is it the tapping one during the double bass roll with polyrythmic snare or the minimalistic one after the first verse?
The former is kick ass pure. I bet my neighbours are shitting their pants when it kicks in lol.
|
| |
Zep's Black Dog was much better IMO. OMG what about 'Sabbath? NIB is the shit. The best solo's ive ever heard would have to from Skid Row "I Remeber You", Smashing Pumpkins "Geek USA" or the super simple but effective Johnny Ramones solo from "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue". Why isnt Nirvana featured?
|
| |
..And Metallica isnt featured!!!! Almost all their songs HAVE A FREAKING SOLO!
|
| |
A solo isn't how much you can wank your guitar. A solo to make a list like this is how much it can impact the song itself. Sure there is always debates on what should be on here, and what not, but it's hard to deny that the solo in Beat It and in Knights of Cydonia made huge impact just within the songs themselves.
That being said, I thought that November Rain (GnR) had a much better solo than Sweet Child Of Mine. I would have loved to see Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle" or Weezer's "Island In The Sun."
|
| |
Yes, but solos that make those lists (like these) are usually very boring and worthless by themselves. There are different ways you could judge solos, and therefore there should be different lists. Or perhaps a mixture of difficulty, technicality, and impact. Which they certainly didnt create here. This Message Edited On 08.07.07

Theres no way to completely judge all solos. Some lists would give praise to difficulty, others melody, elements of catchiness and speed and whatnot... you couldnt pin it down.
But Id have Selkies: The Endless Obsession by Between the Buried and Me on here. The entire second half of that song is nothing short of phenominal, the outro is one of my favorites.
|
| |
This list is a crock of wank.
|
| |
Predictable, shitty list. maudlin of the wells Birth Pains Of Astral Projection needs to be here. So does Deaths To Forgive Is To Suffer and Cynics How Could I. Haha and thats only the tip of the iceberg.
|
| |
5 and 14 are funny.
|
| |
That list is lame. Yeah, there is a lack of Metallica and the other 3 bands from the big 4 of thrash. In my opinion, the solo from "Don't Cry" is much better than the one on "Sweet Child O' Mine".
|
| |
I have become
COMFORTABLY NUMB
|
| |
It's such a BS top 20 list, they actually have 21 on it.
|
| |
May I second Maggotbrain?
|
| |
solos are so fucking lame
