New As It Is song + album

2018-05-20 by jesper EMERITUS | 18 Comments
UK pop punk act As It Is have released the first single titled 'The Wounded World', off their upcoming album The Great Depression. The song showcases a heavier side to the band, hinted at on some songs off their sophomore record Okay.

In frontman Patty Walters' words, The Great Depression is a concept record focusing on the question of whether or not "society has a fetish for mental illness." The album will be released on August 10.

First song I've ever enjoyed by this band, I feel like I'm in 2006 and I'm totally okay with that.

I don't really think that the 2006 MCR concept album image change is really for the better. Okay was a good album in my opinion, but I don't see how they could pull through with another just a year and a half after.

Holding my breath until the next single.

feel like maybe i could fuck with this if it had better vocalist, production and not extremely repetitive verses but, then it’d be a completely different song wouldn’t it

I'm really happy they're going in this direction tbh. I'll like pretty much anything this band puts out though, even if it's the somewhat mediocre pop punk of the past two records

Eh, not bad but nothing that good. Only heard a couple songs from this band anyways, but from those I got the sense that the guitarist was a much better vocalist and could fit their sound better. This sounded like Set It Off for the first half.

That melodic riff in the bridge of the song was amazing. Hats off to this band for keeping their sound fresh. Mad respect.

Meh, the song captures the 2000s pop punk era but this "concept" no thanks.
