Sooooo good. ;)
| |
Midnight Crusade is better but this is grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr8 as well
| |
Have to wait until I get home :[ :[ :[
I kind of expect that it's good tho
| |
Is lit 🔥
| |
Good, but one of their weaker songs in recent history
| |
This guys put out material way too fast..
| |
Great song, but the I wish the ending had more umph
| |
I feel like the ending might flow into another track though.
I hope that's the case, at least.
| |
The dynamics in this song are great, so much tension between tillian and mess
| |
RIP this band
| |
This is fucking fantastic. It casts nods to their older and better work. If this is how they utilize Tillian on this album then I'm already impressed.
| |
@Tranqyl could you elaborate on everything you just said ... what was their older and better work and what made it better? How are they utilizing Tillian here different than they did on their past 3 albums (well lets just say 2 because AS he was clearly used differently and getting acclimated)
| |
I liked Midnight Crusade better, but this is shaping up to be another solid effort from these dudes. Mess sounds better than fucking ever. Really glad he’s bringing back some elements of his DBM2 screams
| |
@Feather The strength to pre-Tillian era DGD was that there was a firm aesthetic in the band. The guitars were mathy, chaotic, and punchy. Jonny delivered a firm helping of soul, Kurt delivered the emo, and Mess was pioneering a style of witty, semi-ironic screaming. The most glaring issue with Instant Gratification and Mothership were that they were too 'poppy'. Neither of them were bad albums, but Mess wasn't as interesting on either of them as his lyrics were more random than witty, funny and dark. Further, they relied too much on the pop oriented suiting of Tillian's vocals, constructing much of the sound around it and in so doing killing off much of the chaotic, mathy, or even soulful sounds that they used to utilize in near perfection. It's certainly all subjective and I'm not suggesting that the band shouldn't try to innovate, but I've struggled to appreciate Tillian's set of albums anywhere near as much as DBM2, Happiness, or DBM1.
| |
tilian still sux
| |
@JayEnder Agreed. Mess seems to be really putting in work for this album and I'm optimistic that it'll pay off in dividends.
| |
Kurt>Tilian>Jonny
| |
Good stuff! Better than the first single in my opinion. Great chorus.
| |
@Tranqyl Thanks for putting that in perspective! I can see what you are saying. Interesting note on Mess having more random and less witty lyrics. I completely agree with the "pop" direction they really dove headfirst into with the Tillian era, but even with Happiness, it was clear they were heading that direction and having a bit more fun. I understand what you're saying though!
| |
@Feather I agree that they were heading in a direction of having fun and being a little bit less intense, but I disagree about it necessarily being poppy. DBM2 is the most fun DGD record in my opinion, but I wouldn't call it poppy. To each their own though.
| |
To each their own for sure. I prefer Kurt and Tillian over anything Jonny was a part of aside from a few standout tracks.
| |
Haven't heard this, but I bet it sounds like any other Tillian-era DGD song so it means good and solid I suppose?
| |
That chorus bangs so hard, I'll never get sick of Will Swan's guitar work.
| |
a solid 3.8/5 song, it's no Variation but I dig it.
| |
Decent stuff.
| |
agreed tranqyl, imo this song is one of the few times they've actually made the music to utilize tilian well and it melds well together
the beauty of dbm2 for me was that it sounded the most natural and like they had the most chemistry as a band
| |
Cant wait to hear another 2.5/5 whiny noodle fest when I get off work
| |
"the beauty of dbm2 for me was that it sounded the most natural and like they had the most chemistry as a band"
Except Jonny barely put any effort into that album.
| |
"bros, I need money for laptops and skag, can I rejoin, plz?"
| |
I saw them the week before they kicked him out the second time on All Stars, he was all fucked up.
| |
yeah it blows my mind because that album's amazing
| |
"Except Jonny barely put any effort into that album."
You're not wrong, but you're not right either. If you read some interviews, apart from Slaves, Jonny has next to never put work into any album. He simply let the band work the instrumentals and nearly freestyled the vocal component. He's damn good at it too. DBM2 showed every other member of the band having the most fun on any of their records ever. There was chemistry and genuine enjoyment present in the sound that really shows. Jonny is good on anything that he sings on, it just so happened that he sung on the DGD's most fun and synchronous record.
| |
Yeah, I really love the same 3 vocal runs Jonny is capable of doing.
| |
To each their own, man. I don't mind them because unlike other bands DGD doesn't have only one selling point. Swans' guitar work, Mess' screams, and the flourishes that Mingus and Feerik make help guide the sound far beyond just great vocals.
| |
"... It's certainly all subjective and I'm not suggesting that the band shouldn't try to innovate, but I've struggled to appreciate Tillian's set of albums anywhere near as much as DBM2, Happiness, or DBM1."
I could not agree MORE, Tranqyl. Took the words right out of my mouth. We're four albums in with Tillian and it's not clicking at all with me. In fact, it's pretty much turned me off the band entirely. I stopped buying after Instant Gratification, and listening after initial Mothership singles.
| |
Damn I really love Tilian's vocal melodies on these new songs, I cannot wait for the album < 3
| |
You damn right, and I can hear some self titled elements on this
| |
Tillian is so much better than Craig it's not even close. Craig is so seriously overrated.
| |
Snide "Black Veil Brides created the most influential rock album of the last decade"
... ..
..
"Can't wait to hear another shitty 2.5/5 DGD song"
lmao.
| |
It's one L
| |
I mean it's kinda easy to know considering it's spelled with one L on all of his accounts, I'm pretty sure the man knows how to spell his name lmao
| |
This was pretty sweet
| |
Til's a good lookin nigga damn
| |
Yea Tilian is a 10 even with the gap in his teeth
| |
Definitely a solid choice, helps his voice shine in a more emotive and natural way.
| |
Man this revamped some hype for this for me
| |
I'm so excited.
| |
better than almost anything off mothership, actually kinda excited again
| |
Song rips, this album is gonna be killer. DGD can do no wrong
| |
Sounds pretty good. Mothership really grew on me so I'm looking forward to this release. As far as the Tillian v Craig rhetoric... Kurt Travis all day. I think Tillian finally had a good performance on mohership after two uninspired albums. Band seems to be stronger and healthier than ever tho. Craig can fade into Oblivion for all I care
| |
Kurt Travis all day [2]
| |
song slaps, album will no doubt slap too
| |
this is it
| |
"I like how they decided not to put loads of auto tune on his voice like last album this time around "
What? Tillian sounded raw as hell on Mothership?
Can't wait for this album. Just consistently really damn good.
| |
What disappoints me is that, based on Will's comments, we're not getting a record that sounds like this song, and now all I want is a record that sounds like this song.
| |
where is there autotune on mothership tho
| |
@Zach There was a Reddit thread where a supposed reviewer claimed he got his hands on a copy (which at least is in the realm of possibility since the album is done and all) and he claims that Son of Robot was "A great proof of concept for what's to come." Further, he likened the album to a cross of DBM2 + Mothership. Could be false, but who knows.
https://www.reddit.com/r/dancegavindance/comments/8c6jrr/ive_been_lucky_enough_to_hear_artificial/
| |
Tilian did sound more raw on Mothership, those strained vocals get me going
| |
Been relistening to Instant Gratification and Tillian has really improved over the years. Super excited for this record tbh.
Where’s Kurt Travis at though?
| |
These dudes can do no wrong.
| |
Hey cool, this band went from a 2.5 to a 2.6
| |
Snide you think BVB is the best band ever, you can't talk shit on DGD.
| |
^^^
| |
Kenbo, BVB shits on this whiny noodle fest any day tbh
| |
Maybe on whatever planet you're from, but this is earth and Tilian is a better vocalist than Chad Kroe-I mean, Andy Biersack.
| |
I used to think like Snide back in 10th grade. lol
| |
Jesus Christ man
| |
[2]
also nice dig Jeet
| |
Jesus Christ man [3]
Hahahaha I retract the comment I made before, song is addictive and fun as fuck. Guess I'm gonna jam their last 2 albums before we get to hear their new shit >:]
| |
I really enjoyed Acceptance Speech a lot, but I think IG and Mothership are the two DGD albums I've listened to the least so...
| |
it's dank
| |
THIS SONG RULES
| |
BUT BVB IS BETTER
| |
Nah dawg
| |
feels like mothership was just released
| |
They're so prolific and consistent with this lineup. Glad they hung together through the tough years.
| |
Latest BVB is definitely better than DGD. Edginess is better than whiny, retardedly sporadic kinds of music such as DGD.
Don't take this comment too seriously tho, this band doesn't even take their music too seriously.
| |
3edgy5me
| |
DGD should make a rippoff album with a couple of songs of the last three records rerecorded with Jonny. Might be pretty interesting tho
What the fuck is BVB
| |
idk what to aay anymore, if you don't like this but enjoy the last bvb you really should kill yourself
| |
I'm definitely killing myself than having tillian-era DGD played near me.
| |
People who don't like Tilian are buffoons fun fact
| |
roody-poo candyass on a one way track to jabroni lane
| |
roody-poo gum on your shoe
| |
if you don't acceot tillian is the best dgd vocalist i'll roody-poodly-pull up with the banana clips and spray your ass down.
| |
Gonna check into the Smackdown hotel
| |
This album is going to rip!!
| |
no it's not
| |
Yes it is
| |
Album gonna rip some ass
| |
oh shit Kurt Travis is gonna be on this!!!
| |
Son Of Robot grew up insanely quick
| |
