hell yeah, I can dig this!

why does this stink of "written for a video game trailer"?

'why does this stink of "written for a video game trailer"?'
COUNTIN BODIES LIKE SHEEP TO THE RHYTHM OF THE WAR DRUMS
I dig it. It's pretty sweet
| |
Eh, it's alright i guess. The instrumental part of the song is awesome and reminds me of orchestral music. However, Maynard's vocals are super boring and remind me of Puscifer, a project of him i wish didn't exist.
| |
Can anyone tell me why the 18 years pause ?
This is a nice song.
| |
I like it but I feel bad about it.
| |
Can we all admit this is the final nail into the ‘prospect of a new Tool album’ coffin? I sure hope so
| |
"Can we all admit this is the final nail into the ‘prospect of a new Tool album’ coffin? I sure hope so"
I can hear the cries of Tool fans on the horizon already; "ITS JUST A DIVERSION ITS JUST A DIVERSION!!!"
| |
Jesus fuck hasn't Maynard said a thousand times that he's waiting on the band to finish the music, and that's when he'll add his vocals? Listen to his Joe Rogan interview for extra clarification, pretty interesting
| |
"why does this stink of "written for a video game trailer"?"
lol that riff that kicks in at 1:10 sounds like something that would come out of Halo lmao
not really feeling this
| |
I still have a dying flame of hope for a new Tool album, but I am also dressed for the possible funeral.
| |
this is not good
| |
Not very impressive
| |
kiiiinda disappointing.
| |
Sounds kinda unfinished.
| |
Okay track. The guitars are pretty good but song lacks a good hook that will make it memorable
| |
Totally agree with this ^
| |
Hell fucking yes. I mean I see where the video game punchlines are coming from, but I love it anyway.
| |
Yea this has nothing to do with Tool's timeline.
| |
Yeah its good but not memorable. Still waiting for awesome performance from Maynard.
| |
Song is a hard 6/10
| |
love it tbh
| |
It sounds just like a new Puscifer song with the APC name. As a huge fan of APC and Tool, I'm pretty disappointed.
| |
Great high energy song, love it! it still sounds a little out of place though, looking forward to hearing it in the context of the album
| |
I've somehow never listened to a APC or Tool album in full. This is decent, but thanks to all the video game comments I can't listen to it without seeing bad Halo montages
| |
Ok song. The Contortionist did it better on that one song from the new album tbh
| |
A perfect circlejerk
| |
Hmm it was fairly good. I don't think it's as bad as some here are making it out to be. Better than Nurse Who Loved Me, at least ;) Gotta give it a little time to grow.
@ the video game comment you can do that with almost any song if you start thinking about a video game in your head.
not that I'm a blind fanboy.. it's true it could have been better. But I could have seen it being a lot worse. It's a pretty solid start back from that long of a hiatus.
| |
the article title made me think the song name was going to be "air" lol
| |
maynard sounds old here
| |
Enjoyed it.
| |
"I've somehow never listened to a APC or Tool album in full. This is decent, but thanks to all the video game comments I can't listen to it without seeing bad Halo montages"
I ruined this for everyone, I am truly sorry
| |
I wonder if this is the actual lead single or just a buzz track. There's no real hook to it, and the verses and chorus are a bit disjointed. Definitely more of an "epic" vibe than their usual stuff, but it sounds like a good album track more than the lead single to the first new album in 13 years.
| |
"However, Maynard's vocals are super boring"
welcome to every Maynard ever
| |
^ I wouldn't go that far, guy can turn it on when he wanted to. Not sure how he is now though.
| |
sounds to me like Maynard heard a Nothing More track and just wanted to give it a go. I think its alright. Good for what it is. Glad to hear Maynard yell just a bit at the end-- too bad he never actually goes in in any track ever.
| |
I think Maynard can still cut loose but the melody on this song in particular is kind of restricting.
The instrumental here is really nice. That old APC melodrama is back and hasn't aged a day. Hope the rest of the album sounds like this.
| |
This is...really bland and mostly uninteresting.
| |
"Can we all admit this is the final nail into the ‘prospect of a new Tool album’ coffin? I sure hope so"
What is dead may never die
| |
Clearly about Trump and his followers.
What if he did his powerful screaming voice at the end and just repeated "Fack you, you're on your own" over and over while it went to a heavy jam?
| |
It's a radio single. If the next song isn't better than it's time to worry a bit
| |
"maynard sounds old here"
well he is 53
| |
The only thing I didn't dig was the fanfare beat, but Maynard sounds ok. I am curious about the album.
| |
Doesn’t sound like APC to me. Production is kinda lame as well.
Whatever.
| |
Maynard's burnt.
| |
It's grown on me somewhat over a few listens but still nowhere near MdN/13th level
| |
Eh. It's alright, I guess.
| |
Hey i was expecting worse considering the time gone. I dig it. I for one like the soft parts and all the drums. Hopefully the rest is worth the wait though.
And that song Feathers they played in Vegas is fucking stellar, so... here's hoping.
| |
"Clearly about Trump and his followers.

you can't be serious lmfao
song was totally uninteresting to me
| |
This needs to be placed over a sports montage or something.
| |
It's good, not as good as By and Down, Feathers, or Hourglass but I like it. Really curious to hear what the album will sound like overall.
| |
Sounds like they're going in a more cinematic direction, at least with this song. Lyrics make me think of Maynard's recent talk on Joe Rogan's podcast a bit.
| |
We need a meteor.
| |
Nearly shit myself queuing up an actual new APC song. Was disappointed.
| |
Great song
| |
Don't get what people are bitching about. I've been a fan of both Tool and APC for the better part of the last 15 years and this song is soo much better than i was expecting. I wouldnt say i love it, but in the context of the album and the fact that it's a single. Songs pretty promising honestly
| |
Parts of this song are enjoyable and parts suck mad dick
| |
The song is good... but that chorus riff can suck my balls. Wtf is that. That ain't APC. Never thought I'd be criticizing Howerdel. Still have high hopes but I have a sneaking suspicion now that this album won't cut it.
| |
Good song. Judging from this and the other songs I'll happily take this over any new tool record.
| |
Listened to the song some more and I retract my last comment. It's grown on me a lot. I guess I'm just bracing myself for disappointment because this record has so much to live up to.
