Snide here, I'm not coming back, but I figured that I owe you all a response for clarity because of all that you've all done for me.

The incident happened while I was at work, anyone who uploads videos to YouTube who also edits them is probably more than aware of how long rendering can take. I was rendering a 46 minute video for my gaming channel, so I decided to leave my computer running during my shift so that I could upload it when I got back home. Apparently the inside of my rig caught fire while I was at work, as when I got home the entire inside of my tower was basically all scorched black, both hdds, graphics card, motherboard and all. I'm incredibly lucky my apartment didn't burn down.

I'd also like to address a few other questions and statements in here.

I'm frankly feeling depressed, and to me I'm taking this as a sign that I need to step away from doing music on my own for a while. Its not just the fact that I lost the nearly complete sixth album and halfway done seventh album, its the fact that I lost the master files for every song I've ever done on my own. I lost the hours I spent working on Void after my ex fiancé left, the hours I spent writing piano tracks to help me fall asleep at night, the hours I spent trying to solve my own personal issues with Nightfall. This isn't even remotely comparable to My Tears Your Weapon, that project was basically my learning project and in the grand scheme of things didn't matter. I poured my everything into Black Malachite, and I don't know if I'm ever going to feel the same drive to pour my all into something like that again. I might form a full band to scream and write lyrics, but I just don't know what the future holds for me musically other than that.

As for people asking whether I bought plays. I purchased plays for one SoundCloud track (my Itachi remix) and two YouTube videos, to make them look more presentable for advertising. I never purchased Facebook likes for Black Malachite.

Look real talk here, feeling depressed after losing so much work is a pretty normal reaction and shouldn't be taken as a sign that it's time to pack up and abandon something you've always been so passionate about.

It sucks to lose the masters for your old material but just be happy that stuff got released and is out there and, realistically, you likely weren't going to be touching those since the albums were done and out there. The 6th and 7th album is shitty though agreed.

Take some time, mourn your losses but you'll be back at it I'm sure. If anything this might give you some new fuel for another release (that I probably won't listen to just like all the others but some will!)

How do you backup a VST plugin or settings though. Perhaps I will take screenshots of the settings, idk. sometimes the perfect combination of things can't be replicated so when it's gone you can try to do it again but it isn't the same.
