The Defiled break up

2016-03-19 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 12 Comments
London industrial metal group The Defiled have announced that they are to split up effective immediately. The group, who released their second album "Daggers" via Nuclear Blast in 2013 and hold the Guiness World Record for first band to play on a floating iceberg, released a statement on Friday stating that the breakup was amicable, however it was no longer financially sustainable for the group to continue touring and making music together. They hope to release a few final songs and embark on a farewell tour, however, the already rescheduled dates with In This Moment have been cancelled.

willing to bet that the floating iceberg thing was wanting to get a world record and they picked it by virtue of it being too specific for someone to have done before

What Mister Twister said; oh hey look we're the first band to do this pointless thing and the only reason no one else has done it before is because they realised it was a waste of time!

Band had potential. Even if I didn't like them, I can recognize that they talent. Too bad this site is too cynical to recognize it.

It was something Jagermeister arranged, like the World's Coldest Gig with Charlie Simpson in a small Siberian village.

@NonApplicable same, and they're totally ignoring the even bigger issue of bands lacking enough financial support to be able to remain together nowadays. If you want to stay a band you often have to be afraid of becoming too big like The Defiled did because there's just not enough money in being in a band that tours the UK/Europe and US anymore.

Another band throwing in the towel because of finances. Sounds familiar?

Damn, was hoping for a new album this year. I wasn't the biggest fan, but Daggers had some good shit on it.
