Jim Konya dies, age 44 2015-10-08 by Black Daimon | 14 Comments | Long-running black/death metal band Nunslaughter's drummer, Jim Konya (Jim Sadist) has passed after suffering a stroke on September 9th. Initially showing signs of improvement, his friend Eddie put it, "He was very responsive to us, smiled and such. Was able to shake his head ya know nod and such. He even flashed horns with his left hand." A few days later, Nunslaughter updated fans once more via Facebook, "Jim stood up yesterday. He is able to swallow and feed himself. These are great strides. I cant thank you metalheads enough."
Things took a turn for the worse on September 27th, when the band posted an update: "Jim has had a seizure and is now in a medical induced coma." It was later revealed via cat scan that he had suffered another major stroke on the right side of his brain, the seizure being a precursor.
On October 5th, the band posted another update via Jim's father, "We were told this am that Jimmy may not wake up. The breathing tube will probably be replaced by a direct thru his neck. I believe that are getting ready for a discharge from ICU to the next stage of Jimmy's care."
14 hours ago, Jim Sadist was taken off life support, and passed away.

rip
| | | this is just unfortunate, RIP
| | | generally not huge on anti-christian music (or anything anti-any kind of religion which probably sounds weird since I like death metal so much), but this definitely sounds like a painful thing to go thru for everyone involved. horrible way to go out (not that there's really a "good" way). RIP
| | | That is fucking sad damn RIP
| | | Damn. R.I.P. Sad to hear this.
Great band.
| | | rip
| | | Not a good week for black/death metal
RIP
| | | that really sucks.
| | | Horrible news.
| | | Thanks for posting this Mike.
I hung out with Jim on several occasions since we all jam in the same building. My drummer had been friends with him since he was 15.
Jim was one of the funniest, wittiest and most unselfish dudes I've ever met. He was always giving people free merch and was always a blast to hang out with.

Why would you not be huge on specifically anti-religious music? Seems like a silly thing to be exclusively turned off by IMO.
RIP Jim tho.
| | | Bolt throwers drummer dies, goatlords guitarist goes insane and now this. What the fuck will happen next?
| | | I'm all for religious freedom and I respect other peoples' beliefs. I didn't say I'm exclusively turned off by it, I said I'm not huge on it. It's an aspect of the music I don't subscribe to, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it for other reasons. My favorite dm album is onward to golgotha, which is specifically exactly anti-christian

Sounds like a good guy. Shame he's gone so soon.
