Seriously, fadeouts are LAZY and hating them is not a new thing- bands have been using them forever and it has always been a weak ass move. This one particularly sucks because it fades and then piano just gets shit into it.

Yeah the fade-out kinda sucks, mostly because it's done at a part where it feels like the song should still keep playing. Would have been much better if they'd played into the piano a la "The Leper Affinity" or something. But track was definitely awesome, hoping to see a full song based around those opening riffs because damn those actually had a bite to them!

Song takes too long to get going IMO. And the builds aren't really all that. Vox feel shoehorned. The lead guitar parts are straight up annoying me. I don't hate this, but I think it has more going against it than for it.

I'm liking it more now that I'm home, baked and listening to it through an actual speaker.
That fucking fade out could have easily been better. Why not fade out everything but the lead guitar and transition to the piano?

this definitely didn't immediately grab me like dream house did but i wasn't expecting another sunbather. call me a nerd or whatever but i think that album is really incredible. their defining work.

I like their new-found bleakness; however, they don't stand out like they used to. They lost a lot of the hazy shoegaze blur.

i really liked what sunbather was going for, and there were some really stunning moments on it, i just think the songwriting and pacing needed a lot of fine-tuning

was hoping this album would be that but i'm not expecting that much now. it doesn't sound like they meaningfully built on the potential sunbather had. hoping this is one of the weaker tracks.

Noctus, I didn't mean Sputnik so much as just droves of people on social media. I mean, there is probably more support than hate, but it seems the poles are more extreme with this band than any others in recent memory. People actively seek to hate them and call them hipster metal, which is fucking stupid.

Sunbather lovers complained about new tracks not having the elements that made them love Sunbather--and therefore Dfhvn--in the first place. Also understandable.

The criticism really isn't that hard to figure out. There're by far the biggest bm band in North America and they've gotten tons of mainstream exposure, so their getting a lot of criticism isn't really surprising given that a metric buttload more people actually know about them than they do pretty much any other bm band.
