Maybe it's just the production, but this sounds oddly different from the past three albums. Still never going to retain the A Lesson in Romantics level, though.
|
| |
I actually dig this.
|
| |
I loved A Lesson in Romantics and their self titled
Did not care for Anywhere but here or Monsters in the closet
This sounds promising though, I like it
|
| |
It kinda sounds like old taking back sunday. Its actually pretty cool
|
| |
It's meh.
|
| |
I had a drream lasst night weeeeeee
|
| |
When the other singer left to do "Go Radio" they just weren't as good anymore.
|
| |
@Spec their self titled was very good as well though
|
| |
It's aiight.
|
| |
Self-titled has a few good moments, but it's still far, far less interesting than ALIR
|
| |
cause jerseeeey just got colder aaand
|
| |
Took him that long to make those 4 lines!?
|
| |
@sparks lol I was thinking the same thing
|
| |
decent song
|
| |
I like this just for the Calvin and Hobbes reference.
|
| |
Track is just ok
|
| |
I watched that whole video to see him paint something awesome and it was 4 simple lines...
But this band has become so Pop Punk since Lessons In Romantics, blehhh it sucks! Nothing will beat the perfection of their debut.
|
| |
Its a pretty good song actually, nothing groundbreaking ofc
|
| |
Last third was good, rest meh. We'll see.
|
| |
Loved how they closed out the song
|
| |
"But this band has become so Pop Punk since Lessons In Romantics"
that album is extremely pop-punk. It also happens to be extremely good pop-punk
|
| |
a lesson in romantics is their most pop-punk imo
|
| |
The summary of the comments, so far: Two dudes talking about how ALIR is their best album and most pop punk album to date, a few others stating that they either like or dislike the track, and the cover art of the album.
|
| |
Thank you, you are a very observant fellow.
"But this band has become so Pop Punk since Lessons In Romantics"
lolwut
|
| |
A Lesson I Romantics is more of an alternative rock imo but if you listen closely you can hear the Pop Punk influences but this song here SCREAMS pop punk with every single guitar riff.
|
| |
alright, lemme break it down for y'alls
Tales told by dead friends: primary genre(s): emo-pop
secondary genre(s): none really
A lesson in romantics: primary genre(s): pop rock, emo-pop
secondary genre(s): pop punk
Anywhere but here: primary genre(s): pop rock, emo-pop
secondary genre(s): alt rock
Valdosta: primary genre(s): pop rock, acoustic rock

Monster in the Closet: primary genre(s): pop rock, emo-pop
secondary genre(s) pop punk, alt rock
this song: primary genre(s): pop punk/secondary genre(s): alt rock, emo-pop
|
| |
this song is very pop punk. mayday parade has plenty of pop punk songs, but their entire albums are more accurately described as pop rock or emo-pop; many more of their songs are actually not pop punk.
|
| |
Cyg that was an extremely accurate (albeit unnecessary) analysis
|
| |
hey some ppls itt were being dumb, i had to rectify the situation ;x
also this band was at one point in time my favorite band of all time so i'm highly highly familiar with all of their work
|
| |
surprises me that they were your all time favorite at one point. I've always liked them a good amount, but never one of my top bands. But seriously I'm pretty familiar with all of their work and your descriptions were dead on, good stuff.
|
| |
it was when i was 13-15, maybe 16. (oof been a hot minute since high school)
their first two outputs still mean a whole lot to me, but nothing like they did then.
|
| |
I had a good friend in high school who listened to their first cd 24/7 so ive naturally kept up with them over the years.
|
| |
A Lesson In Romantics is one of my favorite albums of all time but I CANNOT get in to any of their other stuff. I guess it's because Jason left.
Also.. I still don't understand the whole genre debate, now youre calling them emo? wth
|
| |
OKAY! I think I figured it out! This track right here is super Pop Punk! Okay? It's like raw pop punk... Clearly Pop Punk.
When they made A Lesson In Romantics they executed it so well that the whole album is enjoyable to all listeners. I'm not a fan of Fall Out Boy but my perception of Fall Out Boy was that it was just another mainstream band but when someone told me that they were Pop Punk I had to actually listened to them and I discovered that Fall Out Boy actually is Pop Punk. The same principle applies to A Lesson In Romantics, it's a Pop Punk album that has a lot of mainstream alternative rock aspects that's great for the people on the inside and the outside.
|
| |
Also.. I still don't understand the whole genre debate, now youre calling them emo? wth i called it emo-POP. emo-POP is very different from emo.
it's best described as a fusion genre between emo and pop punk/pop rock. it's slower, lighter, moodier/angstier, and sometimes much more ambitious than pop punk.
|
| |
I knew a couple of girls in high school that were obsessed with this band but they also would have killed themselves for the Jonas Brothers (slight exaggeration) so I didn't really take their opinions on music too seriously.
|
| |
Someone could write up a thesis with the info in this thread.
|
| |
lol
|
| |
It's not bad, but they haven't been able to recapture the energy ALIR had.
|
| |
"I knew a couple of girls in high school that were obsessed with this band"
A Lesson in Romantics is worth checking out, skip everything else
|
| |
I don't get why errbody suckin ALIR's dick when their debut EP is better.
|
| |
I hear a lot of power metal influences in their later cd's that seem to be absent in this song :/
|
| |
Decent.
|
| |
It's...alright. Bit boring.
|
| |
Pretty good.
|
| |
What a stupid title for a song. It's meh, a little boring. Honestly, none of their stuff after A Lesson In Romantics has been that impactful.
|
| |
isn't the title a calvin and hobbes reference? i think some of the lyrics are as well.
|
| |
