The Strokes Take Hiatus

2007-05-26 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 13 Comments
The Strokes have confirmed that they'll take the remainder of the year off to do what bands do in between albums.

The announcement, posted on MySpace, reads as follows: "The band are still enjoying some much needed 'off time'. I wouldn't expect anything to come out this year.

"In the meantime, they are staying busy pursuing some other personal interests and are busy working/writing/rehearsing and all those things bands do in between albums. But, there are no immediate plans to release an album or tour for the time being."

Guitarist Albert Hammond released his first solo record earlier this year and will tour throughout the summer, while frontman Julian Casablancas has recorded a guest vocal on the new Queens of the Stone Age single 'Sick, Sick, Sick.'

First Impressions was a good album, better than the first two, but they need to do something fresh.

I actually like the Strokes. Oh well, as long as Interpol does not do this as well, I will maintain sanity.

The Strokes had some good songs. "Vision Of Division" rocked my socks, and the first half of First Impressions was pretty damn good.

the strokes are fairly good, it sucks that they started a movement of crappy bands that try to sound like them though. Id cry if interpol did this.

Even though I kind of loath any form of easily accessible music just because it is usually so very lame, The Strokes aren't bad.

Reptilia is really catchy.

They're all busy, so this makes sense I guess.

I actually don't own anything by these guys, but I remember being obsessed with Reptilia at one point.
