2014-05-09 by Futures CONTRIBUTOR | 33 Comments
British progressive metal band Monuments have released a new song, entitled 'I, The
Creator'. The song is taken off their upcoming album, The Amanuensis.

The single is the first recorded material to feature vocalist Chris Barretto (Ever
Forthright, ex-Periphery) since former vocalist Matt Rose left the band in early 2013. The
album releases June 23rd for Europe, Australia and New Zealand and July 8th for the United
States and Canada.

catchy as hell. I can get behind this. I was really skeptical about the vocalist being replaced, but this sounds great.

fucking chris barretto is godlike these days, he's always been a great vocalist (periphery with him being the best the band has ever been) but man he continues to improve and its crazy.

This band has gone through how many vocalists?

I wasn't too hot on the vocals the first time around but by the second they had me

These guys haven't grown much musically but they're still great, hopefully chris will stick around so they can expand their sound a bit more

This is great! The previous vocalist single handedly ruined Gnosis for me. I'm glad they've finally found a proper fit for the band.

"The previous vocalist single handedly ruined Gnosis for me."

I don't really notice a huge difference with Barretto's screams, but I definitely do like his singing. Less nasal.

I notice a big difference. The last vocalist sounded like an amateur who got lucky. He had a few good vocal hooks but generally couldn't carry a song. His vocals were also extremely grating. Really glad I can care about this band again.

I agree to an extent. But i also feel the instrumentals weren't that huge.

This new single is just amazing imo

True. That melody in the chorus is stupid catchy and feels very big.

The clean vocals are better than Rose imo but the harsh are not as good. Glad to see some new output from these guys.

Some pretty good riffs to be found here, and Baretto can still carry some great hooks like his Periphery days.

album title = fanciest term for "secretary" ever. album art looks sick again too.

on the bright side, Chris Barretto is a monster vocalist. he has strangely (at least to me) altered his screams to sound a little like Matt Rose's, though his cleans are still top-notch and unique. i dunno if it's just Monuments' sound that makes me feel that way, anyone else?

crossing my fingers that they've decided to include some of Barretto's sax skills in this album somewhere.

'crossing my fingers that they've decided to include some of Barretto's sax skills in this album somewhere.'

Apparently he does play sax somewhere in the album. Song sounds better than anything off Gnosis to me! Hyped for this.
