Here goes
| |
It rules. Woman(in Mirror), First Reactions After Falling Through the Ice, Objects in Space, and 35 are my current favorites.
| |
fucking great from start to finish. probably gonna be real easy to sink into this one, just like the ones before.
| |
Damn looks like I got to beat to the article lol
| |
funny how most of the softer songs feel like the highlights.
| |
"funny how most of the softer songs feel like the highlights"
I have to agree. At least on my first 3 playthroughs. That is certainly subject to change.
| |
I'm especially impressed with Brad's drumming on the album.
| |
I am really skeptical after hearing "For the Mayor of Spitsville", because that was very good...I'll have to go in with an open mind.
| |
I bet this rules.
| |
Didn't grab me on first listen like Wildlife did, but I'm still intrigued. Will continue to spin and hope there's as much great material as that last album. This is definitely more subtle and refined, but I'm still wishing there was a song like "King Park" or "I See Everything"...
| |
Great album. The guitar work is easily some of the best I've ever heard from these guys.
Loving "Hudsonville MI 1956", "Scenes From Highways 1981-2009", "Woman (In Mirror)", "Stay Happy There" and "Woman (Reading)".
Like someone mentioned earlier, the softer songs are easily the highlights.
| |
This album is really great, and I thought it would be disappointing! I'm really fond of the band and could definitely see this topping wildlife rating wise
| |
I used to like this band until the singer started to get on my nerves with his preachy delivery. Just an opinion. This is pretty boring. I'm gonna listen to longmont potion castle.
| |
Says the A7X fan...
| |
"Will be just as shitty as the rest of their work. I wonder if the vocalist still sounds like a dying cat."
@ASnide I hate when people do that
| |
No what you did.
| |
Just because you don't like a band doesn't mean you have to come in here and bash la dispute. The only reason I brought up Matt Shadows is because I think it's ironic you are criticizing Jordan of being a bad singer
| |
I can definitely respect anyone's opinion, just not of someone who is going to start their expression of said opinion with an insult...
| |
Gee, this is a high quality thread already.
| |
Saying someone sounds like a dying cat is definitely insulting, I'm not going to argue with you over a discussion forum about music, you want to express your opinion that's fine, I guess I just need to learn how to tolerate ignorance better
| |
Oh man @Snide he was not being intolerant of your opinion, if you think a band sucks, then so what. Your phrasing implied venemous bashing which is what I believed he disageed with. I'm probably wasting my words.
| |
wow, this is really good
| |
His phrasing automatically implies an opinion, get the adamantium stick out of your ass. This is the internet, maybe not everyone feels like adding "IMO" all the time or phrasing it in a way other people approve of.
| |
When you do it, it's called having an opinion. Oh the hypocrisy...
| |
http://www.facepalm.org
| |
"and literally to me he sounds like a dying cat"
what?
| |
@snide I did not mean to offend you in the slightest friend, we all visit Sputnik so I think it's safe to say music is important to all of us!
So opinions aside, let's just enjoy the tunes...

inb4 500 comments.
Will listen when I get back from work, not huge expectations.
| |
Only two tracks in and this sounds pretty bland so far. Shouldn't get all the hate it probably will lol
| |
No review for this yet? You guys are slipping.
| |
ITT: SnideRetuns being a douche, most others praising the album
| |
since no one else has said it yet, i'll get it out of the way:
darling
| |
this is rly good
| |
itt: internet dramz
| |
Dreyer seems more palatable here.
| |
This is seriously good. I was a bit skeptical after hearing the last track they released, but this is really, really good.
| |
Double post...
| |
Jordan definitely has more variance in his vocals on here.
| |
Yeah this is great, and I was skeptical after Mayor in Splitsville was released.
| |
Woman (in Mirror) has such a jazzy rhythm.
| |
Awesome, this is seriously good
| |
Nap album of the year
| |
@Trebor That goes to KBtFU
| |
Ha Treb prob had his rating ready prior to listening.
| |
so excited to not listen!!!!!!!
| |
Why would Trebor even listen to this? I don't understand why you would bother listening to a band that you already know you don't like. Unless they drastically changed their sound (and that isn't the case here), there's not really any point to it.
I really enjoy La Dispute but I can understand if some people don't. Everyone seems to love Kanye West and Queens of the Stone Age here, but I don't care for them.
| |
People who don't dig LD just enjoy vocalizing it here.

Not as grabbing as Somewhere at the Bottom or Wildlife but I'm sure this'll be a grower
| |
wow, the LD fanboys are out in full force
| |
Dam 1337 burn Treb
| |
We can blame this thread on our hands
| |
I think I saw this thread in my sleep
DARLING
| |
EIGHT HUNDRED FIVE EIGHT EIGHT TWO THREE HUNDRED EMPIRE EMPIRE THERE WAS A LONELY CARPET AND FLOOR
| |
No mention of the word "darling" throughout the whole album, Trebor has listened to Vega and Altair a bit too often I'd say.
| |
False, I have only heard that shit like 3 times
| |
This band doesn't make sense. All the instrumentalists in the band are amazing and inspired, but the singer kills all the awesome vibes with his ranty, "deep & poetic" delivery (most of the stuff he says either doesn't make sense or it's about being a disheartened lover). I loved their earlier stuff but I feel like the terrible vocalist is overshadowing the great musicians in the band. Sad to see them playing for 16-year-old scene girls.
| |
Judging by their ratings on this site, more than just 16 y.o scene girls seem to enjoy them
| |
i was really hoping the big fight would go on
i brought popcorn
| |
With songs like 35, why the fuck did they pre-release a song like Splitsville?
| |
^ my favorite track right now
| |
"wow, the LD fanboys are out in full force"

^I don't get why everyone has a problem with the singer. 16-year-old scene girls generally don't like this shit. La Dispute is a far cry from Asking Alexandria and Escape the Fate (which is what 16-year-old scene girls are actually into). Dreyer plays to emotions but not quite the same type of emotions that 16-year-old scene girls gets.
| |
When I read all the shit that this band gets, I didn't think I would like them. Then I listened to them. Huge difference
| |
you should stop caring about what other people think when it comes to music
it makes you look amazingly immature
| |
i love thirce

Damn Kris the irony.

still don't see it
| |
oh ok lemme spell this out for you!!
this thread is full of people crying that other people don't like a certain band (i happen to like wildlife, their first album wasn't my thing), hence why i said the LD fanboys are out in full force. that is something you can't dispute. a certain user, TheSupernatural, seems to be the most butthurt here, taking particular offense to treb's views of the album for some reason. his attitude is immature. he should stop caring so much about what other people think, shut the fuck up, and listen to the music.
please explain how any of that is irony
| |
should i consult a dictionary and inform you as to what irony is?
| |
irony
i·ro·ny1
ˈīrənē,ˈiərnē/
noun
1.
the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
| |
hmmmm, nope, still don't see it :/
| |
+2 rep for Kris
| |
Kris is close to reaching hustler rep
| |
Omg you guys are so mean to each other : (
| |
Album is great. I was worried at first when I heard Mayor of Splitsville, but the rest of the album rules. And I don't even mind that song now that I can hear it in context. It won't be my favorite song, but it's not bad.
| |
thought the same thing about that song ^ Plus the second half isn't bad.
| |
woman in mirror is so good
| |
i came here to read the LD fanboys get butthurt, you guys never dissapoint ❤
| |

| |

| |
Album is pretty good, seem them live though a few years back and it was so boring. Lots of scene kids too.
| |
Hudsonville, MI 1956 is tits.
I'm assuming this is about the F5 tornado that hit there on April 3rd? It was one of the most violent tornadoes in
Michigan's history and killed 18 people.
| |
Band/album is nothing but zzzzz
| |
Third listen through today. this album is fucking brilliant.

Because brilliance is deciphered in 4 hours

I'm very excited to hear this =)
People need to complain less and listen to the music they like instead
| |
Orr people can listen and give their honest opinion.
| |
lawl
| |
Eh.
| |
"i like this band plz no flame"
Yeah, bury your flame.
| |
Wow, these guys have really grown up the past three years.
| |
yeh, this is their most "adult" album so far, sounds great to me!
| |
@Shadow yeah
| |
For Mayor in Splitsville is seriously the worst thing LD has ever done.
| |
How has no one done a review on this yet?
| |
Hopefully because they are giving it more than one or two listens.
| |
"For Mayor in Splitsville is seriously the worst thing LD has ever done."
Thankfully true. I was worried there would be other songs like that on the album.
| |
The last minute of the song is really good, its just that first 2 minutes or so... ughhh
| |
Yeaaaaaaa I actually like For Mayor in Splitsville now with the whole album
| |
hahaha okay
